Oops, I wrote that wrong. I meant the Delusion series and I have finished the Delusion. The Deception is the next book in the series.
What happens in The Delusion is senior Owen Edmond has just moved to Masonville, Texas, where eleven students at the high school have committed suicide. One day, he meets an old man near an old well on his land, who gives him water from the well. Owen drinks it and develops a serious stomach ache. After he awakens, he begins to see people shackled with chains down their backs and black chords on the back of their heads. Then he sees these hideous creatures stalking people all around his town, clearly having influences on them. Then he comes in contact with a girl, Ray Anne, who has no chains or chords or a shackle, but instead is surrounded by a golden glow. Then he gets to know Ray Anne, and together they try to drive the creatures away.
So, yeah. That's my attempt at a summary. I would definitely recommend older ages to read these books, because Laura Gallier dives into the deep end of the spiritual spectrum. There are some frightening accounts in the book, like possession. And there are other fictionalized situations, but with the spiritual aspect, it makes you wonder if those things actually happen. There is also a shooting, but the details are not fully filled in, if that makes sense. There are some teenage situations in the book as well, none serious, but some that might make younger readers a little uncomfortable.
