@Xonos_Darkgrate1 you should totally read The Mysterious Benedict Society! You would love it so much! It has intrigue, world-domination, intellectual superpowers, good vs evil, action, and not a romantic thing in sight! (Literally, no romance! At all!) The writing style is incredibly similar to yours. Here is an excerpt from the second book. The wording of this particular section is amazing! (It isn't one of the happiest parts though.)
"So began one of the fiercest and strangest battles ever fought, a battle that involved all manner of business supplies, elegant clothing and accessories, and no shortage of trickery and taunts. It was a battle that would rage for hours, and which, when it at last came to an end, would leave the abandoned village entirely in ruins and only one man standing to survey the wreckage. It was also a battle that would leave the young members of the Mysterious Benedict Society in even greater danger than before - for alas, the one man standing wasn't Milligan."

Sorry, it just doesn't seem that interesting to me... I have Sherlock for intellectual battles, crazy villains, and British accents. Maybe one day, but I don't really want to read it. I'd rather write my own actually.

Mandie and the Shipboard Mystery

@Emily_Purplebottle I have the entire Mandie series, and this was the first of them I ever read. Now that I am older, they are kinda meh to me, but I still read them every once in a while!

I just finished reading the book called: Rainbow Valley & now I'm reading the book called Rilla of Ingleside.

@Skybie_Jumpdust1 AH!! MY BFF AND I LOVE THE ANNE OF GREEN GABLES BOOKS!! In fact, I am rereading the first book right now. My favorite character in Rilla of Ingleside is Walter also Una.....I LOVE THOSE BOOKS!!!

The Mysterious Benedict Society

@Aislinn_Mollisong1 I have 3 books in that series. I've read the first two (the third I don't have) and they're quite interesting. My best friend got them for me two years ago, but I have yet to finish the Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict. Maybe I will over the summer!

And has anyone read Emma? I tried reading it but.....as @Xonos_Darkgrate1 would say.....I practically fainted from boredom. And Emma is not a very likable heroine. She's manipulative and a bit of a control-freak. Scratch that. A LOT of a control-freak. Eh....

Oh, and here's a recommendation for a series: Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L. Knight. One of my absolute favorites! The series is a bit lengthy, but there is plenty of action! (Oh, but some romance. But only in the 3rd book. And it's a Christian series so it isn't too weird. Yeh.)

I do the same thing. I'd sometimes read a lot of different series at the same time. Unfortunately, sometimes I mix up the story lines. I'm currently reading I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, The Resister series by Eric Nylund and the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

When I try to read too many books at a time, here's what happens:

1. I get characters and plots mixed up, and make a fool of myself when I try to explain the book to people.

2. I progress much slower through the books, and it gets overdue from the library.

3. It's harder to keep my siblings from touching all the books than just one.

4. My head gets overwhelmed with information, (see number one), and I start having weird dreams with all these books mashed together with whatever I was dreaming that night.

So yeah, basically I stopped reading multiple books at a time.

1 = about the same
2 = 1st part same (and If I got the book from the library, the 2nd part would be the same also)

Depends on the books for number 4
But otherwise yep, that's sorta what happens.

That happens to me sort of when I read a huge book like LotR. The first time I read that, I stayed up literally all night reading it, and I was so dazed by finishing it that I couldn't concentrate on anything. I had a volleyball tournament right then! Let's just say I wasn't at my best..... One book I read sums it up perfectly. It's "The Penderwicks", which is another book I love. One of the main characters, Jane, limits herself to reading her favorite books once a week, because when she reads them, "it's like eating three big pieces of chocolate cake at one sitting." You get overwhelmed by the awesomeness.
