Well, I'm a big nerd who likes spreadsheets, so I have one chart for the damage each weapon does, and another larger spreadsheet for information on the enemies to include vulnerabilities and resistances, and a few more charts - one that I need to update with resource tips that @Sierepica_Fuzzywalker and @Jayhawk_Greencape recently posted. And since I have a second monitor that I can connect to my laptop, I can have the spreadsheets open for reference (or adding info) while I'm playing.

p.s. Here's a random tip: For mechanics (and maybe Scholars?) the Chromatic Acid only takes one bottle of solvent to craft. But when you give it to an urchin when they complain about "being grey" or "wanting to decorate", it gives a full 100 aether.

I've always wondered the numbers of damage before the Lagoon content dropped but now there's too many variables to make sense of them.

I like to call it "optimizing". I reserve the term "breaking" for games that allow mods, or in certain situations where too many side-quests make further quests no longer remotely challenging (like becoming superman in Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, if anyone has played that).

I can show you the spreadsheets, but it's a lot, and they aren't very user-friendly. Designed so I can see the most info on one screen.

One thing to remember is that the math changed with the update.
First, armor became a subtraction problem:
(example: 25 damage - 5 armor = 20 damage),
Second, vulnerabilities and resistances were added as multiplication problems:
(examples: 20 damage x 1.25 vulnerability = 25 damage, 20 damage x 0.5 resistance = 10 damage),
and of course then the game rounds to the nearest whole number, so estimating the factors based on actual damage sometimes got tricky.
