Okay, I am actually going to do it this time. I am going to seriously try and max-out a character with the new update.
What are the need-2-know tips to prevent frustration?
I already know not to pick up the "Trouble Afoot" quest.

No! Pick it up! :0) Just later in game. Also, "Race Day" is glitched. They fixed the Jefferson quest auto glitches... I guess think of the ghost fights. Ones in the square (There's one currently I think) will not allow you to pass through ep. 1. I am sure I will think of more later... I need to sleep. |0\

I can't find any red seaweed, or rubies. The outfit I want calls for it but I can't find it anywhere.

The different sea flowers haven't been added to the game that I know of. You can get crystals in the fog rock mines (In the lagoon)

guys i think theres a bug this fight i cant beat and ive spent hours trying i didnt come prepared enough and i cant warp to anywhere with my map thingy

Yeah. This actually isn't a glitch, but an annoyance. With your currant setup, I kinda doubt that you can win this fight (IDRK, I guess you could.), and as it's story-line, no one can help you.

I do think that the devs should make that fight a little easier. Given the glut of players stuck there.

One interesting fact is that engineers actually never (At least, they shouldn't) get stuck there because they still have the academy radio from ep. 1, so they can TP there and get to NML and re-gen and build new weapons etc.

Yeah, definitely tough. Considering that you don't want to be wet, mineon resists bludgeoning and piercing, and oscillator resists piercing and water (and electric)...

My recommendation:
1. Slingshot, and if you don't get a critical, flee and try again. That should be 30 off oscillator, 30 off lasher, and 8 off mineon.
2. Dynamite the mineon, which should finish it off.
3. If you are not dizzy, hammer the oscillator (trying for a critical)...otherwise dynamite to finish it off.
4. If anything other than the Lasher is still alive, use slingshot. Otherwise Pistols on Lasher.
5. Finish off Lasher with your favorite weapon if needed.

@Micah_Greatdash, I recommend upgrading your weapons (After you get out) :0). No seriously, you totally should. ;0) At least the whacking stick. The Dueling Cane is 2x stronger. :0)

You know, with planning ahead, I'd go in with sniper rifle and fire pistols (and/or fire hammer). Keep re-trying until you connect with the sniper rifle to one-shot the lasher on the first turn. And then two shots each with fire pistols (or one crit) will take out the mineon and then the oscillator.
