Findings 11-23:
I'm investigating Medic, Soldier, and Scholar right now. This post documents:
1. Each profession's stats in battle - they appear differently for each profession.
2. Each profession's Level 1 Professional ability, (or at least the best I understand it - I need to investigate the Soldier and Scholar abilities more).
3. Any current quotes from Mech about any of the professions.
If anyone wants to post data for Mechanic @Lilliana_Umbrellascope @Jayhawk_Greencape, that would be stellar. Apparently Mechanic makes some items easier to craft, as per this post:
I thought I also read somewhere that mechanic also increases damage, but now I can't find the post.
Medic
Level 1 Professional Ability: The Elixir of Fortitude. (Yes, you can just use it freely - it regenerates. I thought that the Elixir of Fortitude was a consumable for awhile and didn't use it for that reason. Maybe that should be made more clear somehow.)
What it does: Makes it so that you cannot be hurt in battle. When an automation damages you, your health bar returns to your previous level before the automation attacked. However, this ability appears to reduce the amount of damage that the player does to the automations in battle as compensation for his or her survival.
I've also seen a higher-level medic in action - there appears to be another ability that allows you to apply radiation to automations.
Stats in battle:
Soldier
Level 1 Professional Ability: A bullhorn that is supposed to "Rally" People. It doesn't appear to do anything when the player is alone. (If you like meetings and playing with friends, this might be your profession.)
Stats in battle:
Scholar
Level 1 Professional Ability: A device called the Automationandex.
You can't use it on the automations, you can only use it on yourself, and all it appears to do is reduce the amount of damage your character deals in battle per turn. It flashes an "Identify" green word like the Medic ability flashes "Fortitude" and Soldier flashes "Rally". Still a mystery.
Stats in battle:
Looking over all the professions, it appears that all three of these have a regeneration and armor stat. Both Soldier and the Medic have Taunt and Initiative. Does the Mechanic share a Craft stat with the Scholar?
I lean toward Scholar as my final form right now, as that profession appeals to my sense of intrigue, but looking over this I would have to say that Medic looks to be the most powerful, at least for a player who prefers to lone-wolf. If I Scholar the main, I would keep the Medic as a healthy second to switch to at all times.
Investigation: to be continued...
