Chapter 2: Return to Aethasia
I lay half asleep in my bed, another... something has passed; I think it was a week, but I don’t really know.
But then I overhear something that truly awakes me.
It’s Keys. I never thought they would bring a new prisoner here, I thought they had used them to mine on the isle.
He’s passing by my cell.
The new prisoner is placed in his cell and the Autofficer begins to walk back, but I stealthily grab his keys before He exits.
I need to get out before he discovers they’re gone. I start using the keys at random. There were hundreds of them; my chances of escaping were almost impossible.
Third, Fourth, Fifth.
Wait a second, I used that one first
Sixth, seventh, eighth. The door opens And I marvel at my luck.
Now is not the time to get sidetracked. I think to myself as I dash out of the small cell.
Alright Cody, if I get captured this time, I won’t try again… well, I guess I’d be moved to the isle mine and there’s no escaping that.
I toss the keys at the new prisoner.
"Get out of here." I Whisper.
At the first bend I already ran into trouble. An automaton patrol.
Oh, come on, really. The first turn.
I stand with my back to the wall so they can’t see me. After a minute I peek over the edge, they had turned around.
I run down a hall and come to a fork.
Signs labeled the paths. Armory, Exit, Quarters
I run down the path to the armory, I was going to need a weapon if I was to have a chance.
Once at the door I push it, and then pull it open.
Pistol: no good, Sword: Nah, but this hammer: oohh.
I could tell it was going to make a big difference. I grab it and run to the exit.
Outside there was a squad of Automatons… like usual.
I sneak up behind one and smash it to bits. The other two looked at me and tried to fire but I smashed one and its shell flew into the other, knocking it to the ground, deactivated.
It was all the same out here, the fog, the buildings, and there was still grass; there was more trash than before though.
