Oh, you bet. I feel like you explained what Peregrine would think about things, react to, etc. I also loved her reaction with the Scarlet Man. This scene (but mainly these paragraphs) is my favorite part!

Oh great, he’s looking over my shoulder. I suppress an annoyed groan.

“Don’t you think you should be using a size 40 screw instead of a size 30?”

“No, that wouldn’t fit.” I reply with clenched teeth. Go away…

“On the contrary, it’s much more helpful! Especially when screwed into this size socket.”

“I’m fine. May I finish this on my own? Please?”

“Try it! It wouldn’t hurt.” A gloved hand places a screw on the table. It’s slightly longer than the ones I’m using. I Hmmmph, and insert the screw into the socket, and start carefully twisting it in with the screwdriver. It’s not going to work, it’s not going to work, it’s not going to—
