No, they are people that she has gathered via other websites. However, with the exception of @Elizabeth_Newroad, they are people who aren’t even involved in Real World Politics at all, and I do wish that @Lilliana_Umbrellascope would learn that she can’t use her friend group as collateral to bully me and the mods into getting what she wants at everyone else’s expense. The problem is, she gets away with it, and that has emboldened her to continue.

I do not think she intended it that way, but her recent post strikes me as incredibly hurtful and intended to wound me. “Reminesent of law and Order” - really? Thanks guys. “Lack of constructive content” - I mean, Real World Poltics is usually boring and puts me to sleep, if that’s what you mean. “8-12 year olds” - actually the staff said it was for teenagers at one point. What’s even more saddening is that she got so many people to sign their names to this language. “We members” as if they are the only members that matter, nobody else does. This evidences a lot of unforgiveness, I think.

With that being said, I actually don’t give a flying alpaca about Real World Politics and will cry no tears over its demise. You don’t have to be so nasty about it. The debate over whether it should be allowed to exist has already happened two years ago and was ended by a decision from a staff moderator:

Not only that, it was the request of said staff moderator that said discussion about the topic’s existence not be conducted in that topic. So I think we should respect the staff’s wishes on the subject.

I would encourage all of the petitioners to read the first 60 posts of Real World Politics and the post I just linked.

Meanwhile, I would encourage folks to keep perspective - discussion of Homosexuality in a topic = topic shutdown is not a good pattern to set. If that discussion pops up in RAV4, are you going to suggest that topic be shut down too? The mods need to deal with that root problem instead of closing half the topics on the forum just because someone said or did something in one that @Lilliana_Umbrellascope personally didn’t like and she got all of her friends to agree with her.

I think that the point of a petition is just to bring before the mods something the signers really hope would happen. I don’t feel bullied by her petition. I’m just taking it in as a factor to see what the general feeling of the community is towards this topic.
Anyways, we’ll be making a decision soon.

I really hope this was a joke. If not, that statement is an ad hominem attack and serves only to alienate both her and her "friend group." It also makes the forums a lot less...friendly? Especially if you're trying to invalidate a collective opinion (just an opinion and request, not a demand) presented by just well-meaning person.

I figured you should know that your post so far reads like this:
"You can't voice your opinion about a topic because you aren't involved in it."
"You can't ask a topic to be shut down because that's 'bullying' to everyone who wants it to stay."

If she wants, she should clarify her intentions, but I'm pretty sure she was targeting no one in particular with her post. She didn't say, "Let's censor what Sierepica Fuzzywalker has to say." She did say, "Let's close this particular avenue of discussion because it is not constructive or appropriate." A decision regarding that would not target you (though to be fair, much of your contribution to the forums is in the form of debate, so that would affect your forums experience), it would apply to everyone.

That was not alluded to in the slightest. They were presenting their opinion respectfully, not as the only one that matters, but as one that the moderators should take into consideration. I'm sure they will also consider yours, and that of everyone who wants the topic to stay.

The only incivility was coming from the young gentleman who called us homophobes and transphobes while claiming to stand for tolerance. Furthermore, he more than once directed that insult to the entire forums. I believe that should be taken into account.

I'm not sure any of you see the cyclic nature of our history with this topic. I should like to recommend to you all the link I posted before. It is not a long video, but the concept is one which I think goes misunderstood on these fair forums.

I don't even care about the topic. Why did Lilliana have to bring up Law and Order again? Why did she have to slam on all the posts I wrote for the past week and say they aren't constructive?
