There are a lot of really cool things about the forums! You can do bold, italics, or a combination! Just highlight the word you want to change and click the "B" or "I" in the top toolbar. (I will be mostly focusing on the toolbar.)
There is also
quoting!
You can quote other people by highlighting their text in a post the made and clicking the "quote" button that appears. A new post will open with the quote formatted in it. If you are already working on a post, it will automatically be inserted at the bottom. You can always cut and past the whole command in other places, if you want to move it somewhere else in your post. You can quote yourself by clicking the " button and typing what you want after the > symbol.
That little talking bubble 
that is the first button in the tool bar adds a quote of the last post of the topic you are reading.
There is linking, generally used for topics already in the forums. Click the chain button to the right of the italics button, and then paste your link into the "URL" slot. Then click OK

Then there is the most handy-dandy @ function! If you want to get someone's attention, just do @(playername with underscore) in your post and it gives that player a notification above their avatar in the top right corner.
I'm going to skip the < /> button because I still haven't figured it out... 
the up arrow above the file is how you upload pictures. You can upload them from the web, or from your computer.
The
button is an easy way to list items. Same with the next button over.
H
button makes your text huge! For a shortcut, just do a hashtag after shifting to a new line and then type what you want to be huge. 
The "--" button makes a separating line.
The 
button allows you to put emojis in your post! 
The 
button has a lot of other options like making a poll.
