I feel a lurch and a powering-down sound as the DP20 frigate drops out of hyperspace. I blink and sit up from my bed of white durasteel, too quickly. My hand goes up against the blaster wound in my side. I stand up, glancing around the bridge. There was electricity sparking from damaged equipment and the lights flickered on the ceiling. I moved to the viewport. To my surprise, there was a planet sitting right in front of me.
Strange. I didn't think that there were planets this far from the Core.
The planet was small, and mostly cloud covered. I checked the sensor panel. It flickered to life with emergency power. It was mostly an oceanic world, with only one large landmass that covered roughly ten percent of the surface. Then I noticed a flashing light at another panel. Running over to the panel, I checked it. It wasn't good.
Great, I thought, The hyperdrive's inoperable. Damaged in the battle no doubt.
An alarm sounded. I ran to check the sensors again. I gasped.
They tracked me.
Laser cannons smashed into the light frigate, causing it to shudder below my feet. I fell to the ground, grunting. I stood up, I have to get out of here!
The Corellian Gunship shook as I sprinted to the escape pods. I set every escape pod to launch at once and then got into the third pod. I was ejected into space. Green laser fire struck a few of the other pods, turning them into fireballs, but mine made it into the upper atmosphere. I tried to steer towards the center of the landmass. I broke through the clouds and saw the land for the first time. The center of the continent was a mountain.
I have a bad feeling about this... I thought as my escape pod crashed into the mountainside.
