After I said hello to Fae (and once she fainted) I decide to leave the talking up to Skyhawk.
I remember the first day I got my own wings. I thought it was just the flu, until one night I woke up and the wings started coming in. That was weird, to be sure. But who wouldn't be happy about being able to fly? I was happy as soon as I found out I could!
How I came here to the Sanctuary . . . that's a longer story.
I grab my favorite book from the quarters assigned to me, then run back out through the sanctuary. I love reading on the roof, and the easiest way to get there is from the front entrance.
Knock, knock I stop in surprise as someone raps on the doors from outside.
"What excellent timing!" I say quietly to myself. Putting the book aside, I pull them open, grinning as soon as I see who's standing outside.
"Hello," says a boy. He has shoulder length blond hair, and large iridescent Avian wings, that at first glance looked like a butterfly's wings.
"Hi!" I reply excitedly. I've never answered the door to the sanctuary, so I was silent for a moment. "Welcome to Mountain Peak Sanctuary!"
"Sanctuary? For people with wings . . . ?'' He looks around.
"Winged humans. Is that why you came here?''
"I came here because I felt drawn to it, silly as that might sound." he shrugs, wings brushing the ground.
"Oo! Can you sense other people with wings? I know a couple others who can do that, too! I can't sense anything much yet, but I haven't had my wings for long, so who knows? Oh, would you like to come inside?'' I step to one side.
"Thanks." he steps in and I close the doors again.
"Let me get one of the Nest Guardians, they'd be glad to see you," I say, walking down the hall. "I'll be right back!" I speed up to a run, looking for either Nola or Vytanni, excitement urging me on.
