Ooh, flying? I already love this topic. And all the wings! So pretty!
The wings would be like a hummingbird's, but the colors would have characteristics of a starling or grackle. On the flight feathers, they'd be black yet somewhat transparent and thin for quick, easy flying. On the covert feathers, they'd also be black but be slightly iridescent when flying under sunlight/moonlight.
Slightly transparent flight feathers
Black iridescent feathers (for the covert feathers)
Maybe more like this though. Not so vibrant.
Spy. Lead a charm (a group of hummingbirds; but in my case, it wouldn't have to be just hummingbirds. . . ).
...and get into tight, tiny spaces.
(Hand wings--just before you said wings on arms looked strange. )
I shall add to the odd names list, haha. Maybe Nightingale? Not for the bird, but for it's meaning. Will explain more when I decide to jump into this role play.
Old English nihtegala, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch nachtegaal and German Nachtigall, from the base of night and a base meaning ‘sing.’
noted for the rich melodious song of the male, heard especially at night...
Not the first time. It's been years actually. Maybe as long as, @Vytanni_Throttlenight....
None. I wouldn't join the Skyraiders.
Btw, I have a suggestion! How about... phases?
Before a new fledgling finds out he has powers, his inner Aves (or Lepidoptera, pterosaur, or whatever flying order he's in), would have to develop first. This internal development of the wings would occur during a state of hibernation of the inner Aves/Lepidoptera/etc. This resting/development phase can simply be called... the hibernation phase.
After the wings have developed inside, the fledgling's body will be ready to emerge from its hibernation stage and will be ready to reveal what order the fledgling comes from. This stage can be called... the awakening phase, which as previously mentioned, can begin with fever, headaches, aches (especialy backaches), pain, and/or vomiting (severity or mildness all depending on the health and preparation leading to awakening).
And finally, to end the awakening phase, the fledgling must go through a transition into his order's winged form. This transformation can be called... the interphase.
There are still three other phases and two sub-stages that I have in mind, but for the beginning of this story, I think it'd be best to build the suspense and keep it a secret until this role play has well gotten underway. Unless of course, the forerunners of this role play would like to discuss things further, then perhaps I could spill some secrets, in game of course.
Ah, and another suggestion! For tidiness and ease, how about writing our Skyraider profiles on the Role-Play Characters Search topic? You guys can write:
-Skyraiders Aetherlight profile-
as the heading, and then start answering the questions @Vytanni_Throttlenight and @May_Otterview asked.
Basic Skyraiders role-play application form:
-Skyraiders Aetherlight profile-
Wing shape, color: (Your Aves/Lepidoptera/pterosaur/dragon wings description)
Or you can use pictures! But please put them in Summary form like this to keep the post short and compact for easy reading!
Secret or tell? :
First time flying? :
And then you can add anything else you want.
So how about it?
