Rough Start to 2022

The last few days have been challenging ones. Our chief engineer who is responsible for maintaining our connection to Aethasia has been very ill, and his assistant - who would normally take over in his absence is out of the country dealing with a family crisis. As a result, when we experienced a disturbance in the Aether this Sunday we had quite a flurry of activity trying to get the portals back online. Thankfully, the forums and the game itself are back up, though the website is still experiencing issues. Sorry for the inconvenience, we'll keep you posted as we try to get all the gears spinning properly again.

Thanks Jayhawk. I'll make it a priority when the Chief Engineer is back to bump people's subscriptions ahead to make up for the lost time, but it might take a little while before he's well enough.

I originally thought the issues were related to taking things down in order to post new content (hence my eagerness on Monday to dig for new glitches to report), and I'm very sad to hear that my guess was completely wrong. I hope both the illness and the family issues resolve in a way that glorifies God and brings good to both of them, no matter how long that takes.

Did you guys switch to AWS? Was that why you were having problems?

They have been on AWS for as long as I can remember.

They changed something because I had to adjust my firewall to allow it.

For the game, the forums work perfectly fine.

Eh, I had to deal with a firewall alert for the game recently too. I think that has to do with type of files that it had to allow through, not a change in internet service hosts.

Switching internet hosts, as long as the URL remains the same and all of the links are intact, should not necessitate a switch in the firewalls of those who wish to access said website.

The web link changed. I had to have my dad allow it through our firewall.

Hrm. It is possible that they could have switched servers. That would explain some of the weirdness with the game and forum logins.

Either that, or AWS switched their server on them.

Well, if you're ever stuck for new content, there are entire forum topics on what we'd love to see in-game. These include, but are not limited to:

Acid-based weapons
Animal companions
Chainmail clothing
Wings (clothing item)
Steampunk versions of various superhero costumes

I'll give you more if you want them. I'd even give you models if I still had access to Solidworks. However, I do have Blendr and that might do.
