I’ll agree that there are some pretty dumb churches out there doing some pretty stupid things. I can’t say too much because it would give away where I live, but I know my church doesn’t do that - they actually post the lessons that the kids are learning each week in Sunday School for the parents to read. I have actually read them - truths about who God is which are very specific, and actual scripture they us to back it up. It’s really cool.
I don’t go to Sunday School anymore, though. Too old. Unless you count the lesson before the service where an elder is taking us through the minor prophets. Today was an in-depth study of Jonah. I’m about to switch out of that for a curriculum that has us read through the entire Bible in 60 days and memorize the entire book of Titus! Woohoo! (I love Scripture memorization! I’m so weird.)
Anyway, have you actually read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God? I actually have, and it is a good read. I thought I’d ask, since you’re well versed in Issac Watts.
