Ah. I have toyed with the idea of producing my own TV-style story series on YouTube and even taking a film based in that to film festivals (Miss_S would like to win an Oscar ) . I would be using animation to do that - I already have built up a repertoire of sorts with Synfig. But mostly I want to establish my channel first. That's why I grabbed VSDC - it supports the MPG animation files that Synfig produces by default.
However, I will consider your recommendation for Hitfilm, especially when I put in the live-action components (of my channel, not the proposed series) in there.
Pretty much you could consider animation my main interest, but I thought the real-life storytelling components of my channel would be better done with my own voice and face and props, etc. I found the animated "story" components I had and the YouTube-style video scripts I had typed out didn't fit together. Anyway, it's a long story - I'm still playing around with stuff trying to get all of my film visions to come together.
