Summary

I have one question, (for you and/or whoever wants to answer me) how do I join a party? I don't want to run for anything (now.....) I just want to know what the parties represent and how they work, recruiting wise.

I'm not sure anyone has a full explanation for that yet. The presidential system was recently revamped, adding in "party committees" who choose candidates from among their party's willing members. As of right now, party "membership" is determined by voting on a poll in each party's given topic. (In the past, every party's candidates were elected by the community through polls.) The only party without a "council" is the Independent Party. There aren't any distinct differences between the other three parties (Aethasian's Guild, Aethasians of Aethasia, and Kid President) yet since everyone's still deciding on their platforms. The party that I'm a member of, the Aethasian's Guild, is focusing on bringing change to the forums through decreasing spam and encouraging Community, Truth, and Creativity (among the other key values of the Resistance).

There’s nothing binding you to any particular party—you can change parties at any time. The “join” polls are just so the councils of the parties know who could be an eligible candidate, and the ballots are only valid for that election month.
