Yes, pray for Putin. Pray that he receives a particularly attention-getting divine smack upside the head, or at the very least God will keep him from doing too much harm until he is called up for judgement.

Politicians, my friends, they haven't quite grasped the idea that all their scheming will not make them happy, not in the long run anyway.

You know what, my dears, pray for the Russians. Pray that those who know their nation's history with Stalin and such will send Putin a big, fat, NOPE! Pray that they don't suffer too badly and that they grow enough of a spine to do something about it.

What I am wondering is what Putin wants in Ukraine so much that he can’t leave the place well enough alone.

I mean, he invaded the place last time and it didn’t work. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, and it’s madness when other people’s lives and bullets are involved.

Plus it’s February and dead in the middle of Russian winter. The man has got a screw loose up in the prefrontal cortex.

From what I've heard, he wants to bring Russia back to the glory days of the USSR. I agree it is not the most sensible of goals.

The Ukraine once accounted for one-third of the economy of the USSR. It would be a massive asset to Russia.

That wasn't a real invasion. He had much more claim to Crimea than to the rest of the Ukraine, so it makes sense why he only went that far then.

First, the Russians are about as good with the cold as with vodka. Secondly, it isn't super cold. It may look snowy and all, but it's only about 28 degrees on average.

In short, he’s trying to get a religious site back that is historically important to the Russian Orthodox Church, it seems. Therefore, he might need less of a

and more of a rapier-style explanation that the Christian church is not tied to any particular place. Also, you know, blessed are the peacemakers. Perhaps we might pray for him in a more informed manner that accounts for these views and the fact that his salvation or lack thereof is something we don’t exactly know about.

And with that, I will stop talking about this here and direct further comments to Real World Politics, which is what I should have done 5 posts ago. facepalm I encourage others to do the same.
