The image appears as if an oven rolled off of a vehicle carrying ovens and smashed the car on the trailer.

However, given that the oven is largely intact, I ruled out the idea that the car smashed into the oven, wrecking it. The most likely thing is that the car was wrecked by some other means and that the person in question needed to transport both an oven and wrecked car on the same day.

This actually makes the most sense. Cars are designed to collapse in the case of a collision in order to absorb the kinetic energy before it deforms to the cabin and hurts the people inside. An oven is meant to sit in a kitchen and withstand extreme temperatures while keeping the heat inside the oven. Therefore, the oven is a much more sturdy structure. It's perfectly logical that a collision between a car and an oven would not hurt the oven much while mutilating the car.

However, I think the car would be dented, not totaled (if the car was stationary). If the car was moving, the damage would be more severe, yet the oven would be damaged as well. At least slightly crumpled. I base my view on the fact that the car looks like it was stripped for parts (as is evidenced by the missing headlight fixtures)

Think about it this way: the car in question was probably tailgating an oven truck, and the oven rolled off and hit the car from above. It was a vertical collision rather than a horizontal one.

This is evidenced from where the oven is in the image - on top of the engine block -as well as the fact that the oven is not damaged. If the car and the oven truck were traveling at the same speed, only the energy from the drop due to gravity matters. All the oven would have to do is survive the fall intact, which it could, probably.

I think the joke is that the guy whose car got wrecked by said oven actually wanted one, so instead of dealing with the wreck in a logical way, he’s towing his wrecked car with his new oven around and stripping his old car for parts to get money for a new car.
