I tried the tutorial from here:

I have to admit, for the most part it worked...except that I need the latest version, and to arrive at it you have to resort to URL guessing (at least, if you're me). I got [https://content.theaetherlight.com/prod/WIN/TheAetherlight-v210.zip] up, but it wanted to download 531 MB of new content, and crashed on that.

It's very temperamental to say the least - bringing up the options menu for me sticks it to the screen and it won't close unless I close the whole screen. If I minimize it, it crashes. So it looks like you've got some work to get this up to speed. I'm running kubuntu Linux with a version of wine I just installed an hour ago.

Meanwhile, I have homework to do...

Yes, the URL does need updating.

I have tested it with Ubuntu and a type Debian, but I have not hit that issue before. Sometimes you may never find the issue due to the fact that the Aetherlight simply isn't designed for Linux. To run Linux in the first place one has to be more tech savy than most.

Indeed. I'm not blaming you Hans. I've heard plenty of Wine horror stories, and it may just have to do with how wine and the kubuntu desktop interact - at least for the sticking content problem and the freezing, etc. That's something for me to investigate.

The 531 MB download problem might need solving some other way - either by finding a newer version or something else...
