I've been playing it a little bit. It's set around the multiverse, but from a standpoint of the comics. Basically, several worlds from other dimensions are being pulled to the same spot, risking the destruction of multiple civilizations. After Hank Pym failed to stop the Converance, as it's called, Vision uses his density changing abilities and causes all the worlds to merge together, temporarily fixing the problem.
Now, different versions of the Avengers work together to defeat different versions of Marvel villains and find a proper solution to the Convergance.
So, you originally pick a squad of four characters, options for playable characters are Cap, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Widow, Spider-man, Doctor Strange, Storm, and Star-Lord. As you progress, you unlock different skins for your characters. (As of now, my Cap is wearing a US Agent outfit).
Each character has a specific origin story, like Cap vs. Hydra and the Red Skull or Iron Man vs. A.I.M. and M.O.D.O.K., but after that, all the missions are the same, so what missions you completed with one character, you have to play again with another.
It's a open world RPG, which is the best part about it. You unlock more combat abilities as you level up, allowing you to use moves like from the movies (Like Cap punching his shield and creating a sound blast or creating an AOE with slamming his shield into the ground) And with the cut scenes, they add reaction moments (Like Minecraft story mode, you need to tap or swipe within a certain time period)
And they made it with Unreal Engine, so the animation is amazing. And the voice actors are great too. (I feel like the guy who voices Tony Stark is either the same one who played him in the animated Earth's Mightiest Heroes TV show, or someone who sounds exactly like him).
You can chat and add friends to your account if you want. And the coolest thing I found is that at the bottom left corner of my iPad, the game actually tells me what percent my device is at and how many bars of WiFi I'm getting!
So, I would say its a good game if you love open world games, combat games, or just plain Marvel. And the game is free. You can pay to unlock the season pass if you want, it just gives you better gear to rank up your characters. The only downside I can see with the game is it takes up about 6 GBs of storage on your mobile device. And waiting for the data to download once you open the game is really annoying, but it's worth the room and wait in my opinion.
