Estelle Blackpiper* hurries down the streets of No Man's Landing, her small rifle bouncing against her back as she jogs along. A strand of her dark hair covers one of her green eyes, and the badge on her beret shows her rank to be 2.
Others with higher levels bounce along the streets around her, brandishing their OP weapons and showing off their cool outfits, but Estelle is not ashamed of the black- and red- dyed dress that marked her as what some would call a "new recruit" or even a "newbie." She walks with confidence, a confidence that was not normal.
A level 19 person walks in front of her, forcing her to stop in her tracks. "Why u look so smug, noob/?" she asks Estelle haughtily.
Estelle resists the urge to correct the girl's choice of words, for that would surely affirm the accusation that Estelle was smug, even if it was false.
"I'm going to upgrade my rifle," Estelle said as kindly as she could manage.
"Ur only lv 2, noob."
"I know that. You're only level 19." (Here Estelle can't help but smirk)
"U backtalk me, noob?"
Estelle rolls her eyes and tries to edge past the bully.
"I didnt say you could go."
"I didn't say I would stay."
The other girl glares menacingly at Estelle. "I wont take this from a lv 2 noob."
"Well, that's too bad, because I'm not a 'noob.' "
"Yes ur a noob. If I say ur a noob, ur a noob. Now go collect me cogs, or else Ill sic tha pacifier on u."
Estelle smiles, then pulls off a wig of dark hair, revealing bright orange. Her level badge switches to the number 25. "I'm many things, kid, but I'm not a 'noob.' "
Estelle Blackpiper, or rather, Ariella Newheart, walks away, then quickly smashes with her ice hammer the Pacifier which the bully had threatened to 'sic' on her.
After dealing with the automaton in question, she spots the bully picking on another lower-level and quickly goes to put an end to such behavior.
"OY!" Ariella shouted at the top of her lungs.
Everyone in the near vicinity stares at her. The bully scurries away, looking something like a frightened puppy. Ariella salutes the lower-level, then turns and walks back through the long, dark streets of No Man's Landing.
