So. There’s an Esmeralda ballet, based on Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). I hadn’t watched the Disney movie, but I figured I would watch the ballet and expand my knowledge. (The ballet came out 110 years before the Disney adaptation, but according to my research, the ballet and the movie are strikingly similar. The ballet is more accurate to the book in regards to Phoebus.)

He is an unnervingly disturbing character. No shallow, comical, misunderstood villain here. I was/am actually scared, for the first time in a while. I sort of want to see the Disney movie now. Which brings me to the point of this post:

Bonus open-ended question: is it too mature to be considered appropriate for a young child, as Disney movies are mostly assumed to be?
