Sierra sat silently, reading a book. She was sitting on a bench in the library, and had found herself engrossed in the book called, “The Metamorphosis of a Wynged”. She flipped through several pages, and her eyes locked on the section title, “Heightened Sense of Hearing”.
Sierra gasped slightly as she read about it. “This is so . . . Fascinating,” she whispered, barely audible. She continued flipping through the pages, as her jaw dropped a few times.
“May I sit here?” abruptly asked a soft female voice, pulling Sierra out of her intense reading.
Sierra looked up to study the woman. She seemed unfamiliar, with tan skin, white hair and white eyes. She was wearing a mermaid-like dress and had tattered wings that were white and purple.
“Wow, y-your wings!” Sierra exclaimed breathlessly.
The woman smiled warmly. “They’ve been better.”
Sierra nodded and scooted the right to make room for the woman to sit. “You can sit, by the way. So, um, what’s your name?”
“My name’s Stormy,” the woman replied, sitting down. “I don’t really know how the aliases work… But you can also call me Starfire!”
Sierra smiled, but her eyes were still locked on Stormy’s wings. “W-wow, Miss Starfire, I love your wings.” Her own dragonfly wings shuddered with excitement.
Stormy smiled again. “Thanks! I like yours too.”
“Thanks,” Sierra replied. She craned her neck as far as it could twist, peering at her own wings. She then met Stormy’s gaze. “Do you know where Miss Skyhawk is? I… I’d really like her to mentor me!”
Stormy shook her head. “No, I have no idea where anyone is right now. Oh, I completely forgot to ask your name!”
“I’m Lib-- Sierra,” Sierra replied. “Sierra Lightspark.”
“Nice to meet ya!” Stormy extended her hand instantly.
Sierra giggled as she shook it. “Nice to meet you too.”
Listen. I am Vytanni Throttlenight.
Sierra gasped, all traces of any smile gone. “M-miss Starfire, do you-- AHHH!”
I am being held against my will under the orders of Zaul and Lucky.
“Miss Starfire, m-my head!” Sierra clutched her head, shrieking. “So loud… SO LOUD!”
Stormy was clutching her head also, but one hand was on her head and the other was on Sierra’s shoulders. “I… Hear… It too!”
If you can hear me, I am in need of help.
“I’m right here,” Stormy replied. “You’re gonna be okay, Sierra!”
My location is uncertain, but I know we are underground, and the smell of Fog is very strong.
“Miss Starfire, it hurts…” Sierra moaned.
“I know!” Stormy said, taking her right hand off of Sierra’s shoulder and onto her own head.
Great Engineer Bless, and hurry. I can’t hold out for much longer.
Abruptly, the pain was gone, although their heads were still adjusting back to its original state.
Sierra crashed into Stormy’s arms, and they both stayed just like that, hugging, unable to think of anything but Vytanni and her message.
After a few seconds, Sierra pulled away from the hug. “I-I’m s-sorry, M-miss Starfire.”
“No, it’s alright!” Stormy smiled. “You’re okay now. You’re safe.”
“I’m safe,” Sierra replied, “but Miss Skyhawk isn’t! S-she needs my help! Someone needs to connect back to Vytanni and tell her that help is on the way!”
“But I can’t do that,” Stormy replied. Suddenly, Stormy gasped, a new idea in her head. “But I know someone who can.”
12 Minutes Later
Shoes clacking on tiled floors, Stormy Lightscope and Sierra Lightspark arrived at the door that led to the backyard.
“You think he’d be back here?” Stormy asked Sierra.
“He? I have no idea who we’re even looking for!” Sierra placed her hands on her hips.
Stormy nodded and opened the doors to the backyard. The place was still a little bit of a mess - after the battle and all - but in essence, it was much better than it was before.
There were workers, working on the gardens, the flowers, the gates, everything; cleaning up the remains of Sky Pirate ships, blood, and weapons; passing weapons to each other to stack back in the places they originally belonged.
“I wish I would have helped more,” Sierra whispered to herself.
“There he is!” Stormy exclaimed, pointing to a man with fair skin, iridescent wings, long blond hair and blue eyes. He was about twenty feet away, working away.
“Lightscape Ironwalker,” Stormy explained, “also known as Firefly. I helped him with some of his wounds.”
“Y-you’re a doctor too?” Sierra asked, gasping.
“Yeah,” Stormy responded. "I can heal people - it's a part of my abilities."
"That's really cool." Sierra smiled as they both walked up to Lightscape.
“Excuse me, Mr. Firefly?” Sierra asked.
Lightscape looked up from his work. “Hi there.”
“Hi,” Sierra replied. “We, um, we need your help.”
Lightscape wiped his dirty hands on his brown leather jacket. “What’s up?”
“Um, well,” Sierra cleared her throat. “We… Uh… Did you hear Miss Skyhawk’s message?”
“Yeah,” Lightscape replied, nodding. “I think we all did. She sent it to all of the Wynged.”
“Can… Can you… ‘Reply’ to her?” Sierra glanced at Stormy as Stormy nodded in agreement.
Lightscape uttered a small laugh. “Wha? How would I-- Ohhh. You mean communicate inside her mind?”
Sierra nodded. “Y-yeah. Miss Starfire says you know how to do it.”
Lightscape smiled and met Sierra’s gaze. I can try.
“W-woah!” Sierra stumbled back. “Wow. You… Wow! You can really do it!”
Yeah. The only problem is, I can only do it when I look into someone’s eyes. I think.
“So it won’t work?” Sierra asked.
Like I said… I can try.
Lightscape shot her a mischievous smirk as Sierra giggled and put a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well--”
“Excuse me, are you Sierra?” a voice suddenly asked from behind Sierra.
Sierra turned around. It was a man who looked similar to Kitty Ironcraft, but sounded different. “Y-yes… And you are…?”
“I’m Cody,” the man replied. “Starflame told me you could give me a tour?”
“M-me? Of all people?” Sierra grinned. Wow! She shook off the thoughts. “I’d, um, I’d love to give you a tour. It’s just that…” She looked back at Stormy and Lightscape, who looked like they just finished talking to each other. “Um, I’m right in the middle of something…”
Stormy put a hand on Sierra’s shoulder. “I’ll take it from here. Meet us at my room after the tour. I’ll try to see if we can reply to Vytanni somehow.”
Sierra nodded at her. “Thanks, Miss Starfire.” She smiled. “It’s… Really nice to meet you.”
“You too!” Stormy yelled back as she walked off with Lightscape.
Sierra turned back to Cody. “Alright, then. Plans have changed. Mr. Cody, I present you, The Grand Tour.” She giggled as the two of them started to walk back inside.
