IRL Miss_S is hardly a fan of the media discernment lobby - I’m a writer, after all, and the fox just gave me an opportunity to poke at them.

The irony of making a video game to educate kids about the truth of the Bible, thus explaining reality, and at the same time concealing reality from them through sheltering, has never been lost on me. I’m willing to live in that irony to avoid offending people, but I like making fun of their silliness.

If you don't have the intention of getting drunk, I see no problem in going to a bar. That's just me though.

The main thing is not to drink excessively, trying to drown out your problems instead of turning to God. When you get drunk, all your morals are twisted and you get a very odd world vision, and that can lead to some very odd and sometimes sinful decisions.

Drinking adult beverages should not be promoted past-time on a forum for 8-12 year olds.

I feel like most of us are a little bit older then that, lol. But yes, I do see your point.

I use it within my writings as I would describe the materials of my coat or the smell of rain to add to the realism of the tale and ground the story in familiar references and realistic elements.

All writers do need their own style, and if that is realism. Go for it.

There are people who still have self control in this world and know when to cut themselves off. These people can drink responsibly.

I know how to mix many cocktails and some of them actually sound like delicious drinks. I wouldn't drink any of them myself because I like my liver, but I could pass myself off as a bartender at a wedding. Mead, in particular, is generally a very light, sweet liquor with a very low alcohol content. It is therefore an easy one to drink responsibly.

In the bar scene, Mr. Fox is enjoying mead as a drink as anyone else would enjoy a good cup of tea. He is not drinking it to get drunk.

Tbh, I'm getting tired of how this has all dragged out. I guess I don't mind alcohol references in non-Christian books, but I'm also a bit older than the recommended ages for this forum. I don't mind like if a character has the same name of an alcohol drink, or even some jokes about it, but again. I'm older than 8-12.

My great-grandfather was an alcoholic and an abusive drunk. No alcohol for me.

In fact, that's part of how I ended up in a abuse situation in the first place. Great-grandfather --> my grandmother --> my dad --> me.

Everyone else can drink it if they want. I strongly prefer to avoid it unless I'm in a situation where it would be ridiculous to not drink it. Media references don't bother me. It's not like my liver can be poisoned through the TV.

Alcohol is fine, but people have found a way to miss-use it in a vary bad way.
Which is why even though I don't have a problem with alcohol...I do...

There are people who go there that don't drink...

...and some of them that have self control and limit themselves.

But temptation and peer pressure has crippled many, and I don't like people being in a place where they could end up making wrong decisions.

Plus there is the issue of car wrecks...

Also what if you see someone 'trippen and start laughing hysterically as you walk out...

There will always that creepy person staring at you awkwardly...
