Well, that was a rather disappointing response, especially from an aspiring gentleman such as yourself.
I don’t care, however, so long as you respect the rule regardless of your opinions on it, and I have no reason to distrust you on that point.

No, they aren't. Due to your authority over the forums, you have the right to form and enforce whatever rules you wish, but don't pretend all rules are put in place for the community's preservation. It's patronizing and insulting.

Why would we create rules without a purpose to them? As Iliara noted, that doesn’t make sense. It is not as if we are power hungry dictators. Our job as moderators means our bias will always be toward the community’s wellbeing. This extends from rules about Double Accounts to rules about spam to rules about post content. All have been deemed necessary in the interest of users and community growth, as well as staying true to the Aetherlight’s roots and purpose.

I really don't have an issue with the banning of the word. Like I said,

It isn't my concern what you choose to ban or not to ban.

What I do have an issue with is Miss Brassheart's insistence that it's "all for the good of the community" without a single reason or example of why it benefits the community.
I simply informed her that her general proclamation of her intentions doesn't work and comes off as patronizing.

There are plenty of older users around. That could easily be redirected toward younger users. "If you want a more child-friendly forum, you're in the wrong place."
That's rather rude, isn't it? So is the implication that I should look somewhere else for a more reasonable forum.
