I am actually on the council for that party. 
Here is how I see it. From the beginning, Community Moderators have had the same opportunities as members. For instance, we get to participate in The Aetherlightâs competitions. After all, we are not hired staff and do not receive any sort of compensation, nor do we have the same degree of power as Staff. In The Aetherlight game itself, our player profiles are no different from anyoneâs. Should we be barred from some member activities just because we have a different title and some extra responsibilities? I say not. We are just kids, too.
The forumsâ political system is organized by the members, not The Aetherlight staff, however. Even so, Community Moderators have been allowed involvement, starting with the Aethasian Court. According to the Memberâs President Rules, the only area in which Community Moderators are prohibited from competing in is that of the presidential position itself.
And that makes total sense. Isnât the point of having a Memberâs President that members have more of a say in how the forums is run? Like a representative democracy, the people (members) elect a person to represent them in the government (in this case, the moderators). Having a moderator win the presidency would defeat the purpose of the entire political system.
However, I think that, beyond acceptable, it is good for the government (moderators) to support representation through the promotion of the political system. Especially since currently the political system is not as popular or as seriously taken as would be best. Perhaps we can truly grow the political system here into something brilliant.
The forums as a whole is really self-directed. There is next to no staff guidance. Itâs up to us to keep the forums in the best shape it can be, and I believe, properly cultivated, that the political system can help us achieve that.
