3 to disagree or fight by using angry words : quarrel
Let's be clear about what we mean by certain words. Especially online.
We have different opinions on what should be done during December. We should debate aka discuss our opinions by arguing (2) why people should choose the best plan of action. If people can clearly see what choice they are making, the forums will democratically move forward in the best direction. If that is with @caleb_Larkmagnet1 Golden Age 2.0, or @Lilliana_Umbrellascope 's peacemaking and Forum etiquette, or @Jayhawk_Greencape 's focus on new young players, so be it.
I stated my opinion on debates. It was around 150 words.
I now want to reply to Lilliana. I think we are trying to prove through words that our ideas are worth implementing. You have good ideas, so do Caleb and Jayhawk. The elections should be more than just a popularity contest, it should be an affirmation of the direction the forums want to go. If you have the best plan of action for the forums, shouldn't members see why you have the best plan? I didn't mean to say I am the best person to be voted for. That was badly worded on my part. I meant, in my opinion, I have the best plan to be voted for. Our plans should be voted on, not who we are. Just wanted to clarify myself.
I'm confused by your last question. Can you clarify yourself? I don't want to reply on a false assumption.
I agreed with the moderators decision to shut down Law and Order, in fact, I applauded them for it months ago. I don't think we need to debate Real World issues, or even religious issues. We all can make our own opinions, and come from different backgrounds, but this forum is not for convincing others that they have the wrong opinion. This is a Christian steampunk gaming forum aimed toward kids.
However, different opinions are inevitable. It's how we treat disagreements that make the difference. Polls are made to chat about things we like and don't like. We disagree on whether Star Wars or Marvel is better! Should we ban the polls topic too? (no)
With elections, we can create a setting where it is appropriate to debate, especially since we are staying within the boundaries of the forums and Aetherlight.
