Incorrect. Salvation is from whether you believe in Christ Jesus’ finished work on the cross, not what political party you vote for. Salvation is by faith alone.
Also, claiming that all people in the Democratic Party support abortion is a misnomer. The reason people vote the way they do often has to do with money.
For example, growing up, my dad makes airplanes for a living. My mom and dad vote Republican. Why? Because the Republican Party supports national defense, which is what funds those contracts for my dad’s airplane company.
On the other end of the spectrum, my teachers at school are Democrats. Why? Because the Democratic Party supports the teacher’s union that ensures their salary increases. Do I expect them to vote in a way that doesn’t match their interest? It’s hard to care about abortion when your family is starving.
There are also other reasons to vote Democrat. The Democratic Party supports Net Neutrality which allows this website to run at a reasonable speed. Also, I spent a lot of time with transgender folk on the brink of suicide. The Democratic Party wants to protect these people so they don’t end up committing suicide, which is kinda important if you want to reach them with the Gospel, which you can’t do if they are dead.
As for abortion, I hate to tell you this, but neither party is really doing anything about it because they can’t. Abortion is a matter of a court case, not the parties. Even if we manage to repeal Roe vs. Wade, that will make the abortion thing a matter of state law. In order to truly ban it, you would have to make a Constitutional Amendment to get rid of it, and that would probably go down like Prohibition. Why? Because abortion isn’t a matter of the government, it’s a matter of people who want to murder babies. Locking those teenagers and old moms up in jail won’t solve the problem- it will just fill the prisons. (You can argue that Prohibition “worked” because it reduced the common culture of alcoholism, but abortion isn’t like that - very few people get addicted to it. You’re just locking people up.)
What matters is reaching people with the Gospel, regardless of party. From an eternal perspective, better a saved Democrat than an unsaved Republican. People who believe the gospel can be pointed to Psalm 139, which is more powerful to stop abortion than any law, and God sent his son to redeem people - that’s part of the Gospel. People have value, including the unborn.
(As for me, though, I’m going to vote Republican because they want lower taxes for people who run small businesses and ministry organizations like myself. In case you thought I vote Democrat. I don’t. Also, my dad makes airplanes still, and I’d rather he not starve, you know?)
Now this is a real thing - I encountered this in my literature class yesterday, actually. I took the opportunity to explain some Scriptural truth to her, which I tend to do. That’s probably the best response: explain the Gospel. Probably.
