Yes, exactly. They are for having fun, and to pass the time as we wait for the more content and Episodes. And honestly, how is that a bad thing?
Anyways, I have spoken to @Goku_Ironheart about this before (I can't find his post though for some reason, feel free to look for it), and he said that it was permissible to have non-Aetherlight topics. For example, the Star Wars topic. I get what you're saying though, and I completely understand. You, on the other hand, might have misunderstood what I was thinking about when I first proposed the idea of the chess role-play.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the situation here is that you think I'm trying to make an all-new role-play that isn't relevant to Aetherlight. And while you see non-Aetherlight topics as at least tolerable; a non-Aetherlight role-play, in your eyes, isn't. If that's correct, then let me explain what I was really trying to do.
But first, just so you know, I wasn't planning on making a "role-play" role-play. I just called it role-play because that's the closest description I can get to what I had in mind. Now, for the explanation:
Anyways, here's what I had in mind. I, or possibly @Hans_Oddcraft, will create an imaginary land. Or a "mega-chess board" with a view like this:
Anyways, on that mega-board, each participator has a starting point and a small share of land. In order to get more land, he/she must take his armies to battle against the current owner. (The Chess Game itself).
A bit like Risk, except with chess. Participators can team up and agree not to fight. More than two may help each other to form a whole guild or league. And of course... there's betrayal...
but I trust that nobody but @Hans_Oddcraft or I would really do anything like that heh, heh...
I'm still working out the rules in order to keep things less spammy and chaotic, but as an endpoint to my argument:
This is a "mini"-role-play. It won't have a particular storyline to it or some complex plot. It's just something to make our chess games have a bigger purpose than just beating everyone on board. (get it, ha!) So yeah, I guess it's more of a glamorization than a role-play. Though I'd put it in the role-play topic as it really wouldn't fit anywhere else.
Do you get it now? Sorry if I caused any trouble or, as my mom likes to put it, heartache for you. I hope that you like this idea better than you did before. I'll answer any other questions you or anybody else has on this.
