Some serious things have been said and done in this conversation which would not be okay to just to let go. @Lightscape_Ironwalker, you have continuously argued with the mods, harassed them, threatened them, and overall been very uncooperative. For the health of this forum, this just cannot be allowed.
All three Community Moderators are in agreement with my following statements.
Lightscape, I know the first thing you will say is, “Bias!” Well, that’s not really applicable to us as Community Moderators!
Debate moderators are different than Community Moderators in major ways. I’m confused about how you think that we have to follow the rules you set forth for how moderators should act. Community Moderators have always been different from Staff Moderators, and it has always been understood that we are as much players as helpers. We’ve been allowed to participate in the competitions, in arguments, in president voting, and in role-plays since the beginning. Lady Pancake herself granted me and my future partners and successors some of these permissions. This is not an esoteric fact. You should know it since you are not a new forummer, which does lead me to wonder if you may have been muddling those terms on purpose in a strange attempt to bring us down. However, I will not assume that much.
While we are active participants in the community (Members), we are also Moderators. That is what makes us different from a Member. We have been tasked with keeping the forums running smoothly, and that, THAT is what our bias is toward! While an army commander may be best friends with one of his officers off duty, when they are on duty, they are commander and officer and nothing more. This is how I would illustrate our role as both a Moderator and a Member—we are Members until we must be Moderators, and when that happens, we are no longer Members.
A ref might call in favor of one team over the other. That’s still being neutral. So while I as a Member agree with one side of the argument, I as a Moderator am and will always be neutral. When Iliara said she agreed with me and closed the topic, she wasn’t agreeing with me as a Member, but as a Moderator. Therefore, neither of us were inappropriately biased. If Eerie had been the one to post your words, I would have responded the same way to her as I did to you.
Continuing on, I will point out some specific quotes we have a problem with.
These show a point-blank assumption that you are 100% correct (an unknown!) and sound condescending. It shows that you have the same need for the spirit of humility that you were mentioning.
Is this a threat? The irony has already been pointed out by others. You were threatening to delete a whole argument, whereas Eerie was trying to end it peacefully. It’s plain to see here that Eerie was not the one trying to shut something down.
I’m sorry?? I have been on this forum for 4 years and have been a Community Moderator for about as long. At one point I was the only moderator on this forum at all. I was the first Community Moderator, and I am the only moderator who has served with every single Staff Moderator to join us. While I by no means have as much life experience as you, I know these people and this forum. I know how this forum works and I know the original intent behind each and every topic including this one. I used to be young and foolish (I still am quite a lot), but that doesn’t change the fact that every mistake I made then, every tear I cried over the forums, not to mention the working of God in my life, has contributed to the more mature Moderator I am today. All that to say, I have an understanding of not only what it means to be a Moderator, but how to execute my duty rightly.
The people have spoken—their freedom to contribute to this discussion has been hampered. Harassing people (see: Eerie, Sierepica) for their beliefs is not Christlike or conducive to the good atmosphere you keep talking about.
Seems like this is what you have been doing....... trying to force moderators to remove the argument, pushing and demanding the moderators to conform to your rules, and low-key bullying everyone who responds to you, causing others to avoid responding.
Would that be you? If there were anyone I would think felt like that, it would be Eerie. May I point out that Nola is the one who brought it to the argument in the first place? On the other hand, you and Nola WERE teaming up on Eerie and after that, us moderators. Not okay! Sorry you feel like you were attacked and/or shut down, but you did not have to join this argument. Although, no one actually tried to shut you down. Everyone in this topic is free to share his/her beliefs. I believe there was a misunderstanding here.
This whole problem really got started when Eerie suggested you and she should cease arguing. Yes, suggested. Nobody in this topic has a power to stop someone from posting except a Moderator. The Member’s power here is derived from the rationality and maturity of the arguing parties. When Eerie asked for an end to the back-and-forth posting between you, she was not commanding or forcing you to do anything. She was appealing to you to stop, including the advice from the Bible so that you could see for youself that it was the right course of action. You were totally free to post your final words after her post if you had wanted, and so was anyone else if they thought it was the best thing to do. But instead, it got blown up into this fire. I’m not sure whether that was a simple misunderstanding or something else, but I feel it’s necessary to clarify.
Finally, you have out-and-out disagreed with and disrespected official Moderator posts and the Mods who wrote them 7+ times. This is not acceptable.
Rom 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,
Rom 13:4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.
Rom 13:5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
Rom 13:6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
Rom 13:7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
In a way, Moderators are governing authorities of the forums. We are God’s servants for your good, and we carry Mod powers to ensure the keeping of a respectful and friendly forums. There must be consequences when we as Moderators are disrespected and even harassed so.
Once again, I emphasize that Jacoby Elderfun and Iliara Mustardtop are in full agreement with me.
Due to the seriousness of the events that have occurred, we are suspending Lightscape Ironwalker until further notice.
Thank you, Members of the forums.
