Okay, so God specifically gave Satan a restriction on what Satan was allowed to do, and Satan followed it to the letter. When Satan wanted to do more, he had to go and ask God again:
This passage clearly defines the relationship between God and Satan. Satan cannot do what God does not allow, and if Satan wants to do something he has to ask God's permission first.
No wonder all of us resent asking for permission so much! Try to imagine that every time that you wanted to do something, you had to ask permission from your greatest enemy first. Can you imagine how frustrating and infuriating that would be?
