First, the fact that you only trust the KJV of the Bible. I am in no way saying that this is a bad thing. I too believe it to be one of the most accurate version of the Bible in English, but please don’t try enforcing the King James Version only Movement upon others who don’t what it.

I never was trying to do that. If this is refering to my asking @Hanna_Brassheart about a KJV Aetherlight Bible, I'm.... confused. And I guess I wasn't really thinking when I put up that one post. I apologize for that.

Hey, I admit. I like some Chris Rice and Brandon Heath songs. I just don't think of some modern songs as hymns. If people (who read Not Very Well Known Hymns) would prefer I stick to only 1950s hymns and back, I can do that.

I don't, however, enjoy the message you seem to be sending that all songs other than those are bad and that those who listen to them are hypocrites or people who "just don't like the truth".

@Taka_Merespinner1, I apologize if anything we've said seems sudden or not true at all, but really, it's just feedback for your own posts and actions. Again, maybe you don't realize it, but what we're pointing out is just that, and maybe you should reconsider some of those things? You don't need to change all your beliefs, that's not what I'm saying, but whether you notice it or not, that's how some of your posts may sound or imply with some of us. I probably didn't phrase any of that very well, but yeah haha. Once again, I apologize as our intent is not hurting you or telling you that you're wrong, but I think that everything that needed to be said was already stated in our earlier posts, so feel free to use that as reference.

Yes, that's true, but regardless, I still know (and have heard about) people that got into some bad situations with it. Not necessarily by Discord itself, but it definitely played a part because, as you said, it's safe, but it's also private. Which means there's really nothing you can do to help if, somehow, an Aetherlighter or someone you know got into another private server other than your own. So, really, it's unlikely that something bad would happen, but if something bad did happen, then there's a chance the blame could be placed on you.

Like, for example, say a kid got into some trouble through another, different Discord server. They found it because, here, they were introduced to Discord and found what an amazing thing it could be. However, as the one-out-of-a-hundred chance, they met someone who wasn't who they said they were. And one thing led to another, and the kid got into trouble. What happens next? The parents, they will figure out. And what's one of the first questions they're going to ask?- Who introduced my kid to Discord?

So, looks at notebook, in the out-of-a-hundred chance that this happens. . . looks up, that would be you, @Hanna_brassheart.

I'm probably over-dramatizing things, and I really do trust you in terms of using other services for Aetherlight forums purposes. But I'm just saying that this has the potential to become something bad. I know because it's happened before, and it hits closer to home than it might for you. So, lastly, I'd just utter a word of caution.

Let's just use Discord as a last resort, and not really a secondary to the forums where, possibly, it can be more dangerous than this website itself.

The server is for my blog, not to be a "second forums." I've always had a chat server on my blog as an easy way for people to ask questions and receive answers. I don't plan on changing that.
After my first chat server service disappeared, I had to find a new one. I came to the conclusion that Discord was the best. No ads, private, streamlined, great moderation tools, and pretty intuitive.
The thing is, if kids are looking to make trouble for themselves, they aren't only going to do it by using Discord. They're going to look up things they shouldn't on YouTube and find bad things elsewhere.
Discord even makes that difficult by not offering a list of servers you could join.

Yes, I understand this. You made it pretty clear earlier haha. The point isn't whether or not having Discord is the right thing to do right now; it's the fact that it has the potential to become a problem. As I said, Discord isn't the main cause of the trouble, not most of the time. But as I also said right after, it can be used as a tool for the trouble very easily for the same reasons you listed makes it safe.

That's true, and I appreciate that you're taking lengths to keep people safe on it. But even you have to admit that kids aren't exactly the smartest on earth. Not the majority of them. They are gullible, and obviously suspectible to certain things that more-experienced people would know to avoid. To put this into perspective: you can't just hand a person a useful tool, although it has a safety option, and tell them that it's up to them what they do with it when you (the moderator) aren't around. It might be hard to turn off the safety, but if 6-year-old me can prove anything, kid's might be easy to fool, but they're not stupid. So as long as the trouble exists, someone will probably find it, eventually.

That's exactly the point. You are opening the door to something that you may possibly have no power over in certain circumstances. And say, if something bad happened, it could be traced back to this. I'm not saying it will be your fault, but if in the future, people on our forums started going to Discord and maybe one was introduced to a bad server- who was the person who first telling people that Discord was a fine place to be?

It isn't just about who's to blame or who's responsible for things concerning this, but what you do here also sets the example for the forumers here and forumers to come. Is someone going to see you promoting Discord and think, Hanna Brassheart, the trusted moderator, has her own Discord server for us. It's safe, and it's moderated. I could do the same!!, then create their own server or website off something else that isn't safe? What if someone gets hurt on that ?

All in all, I just see multiple degrading situations that could stem from this.

I never said the question was the first. I said it was one of the first haha, and that is essentially the same thing, but a bit more generic.

And that's not usually the case. Someone on this forums might be on your Discord server, all safe and happy. But say someone else, on some other website you can't control, gives them a link to another server that's "safe and moderated". What if it wasn't? Whether or not the parents or their guardian will trace it back to or blame you for it, it will be known that the Discord-problem started here. Why? Because Discord was nothing before, it was off-limits, there was no need. But after an example is set that Discord is a safe place, when usually it is not, that's exactly what some people will believe. And that all just makes it easier for the bad side of things to take over.

I honestly think you are making a mountain out of a mole-hill here. It's the same as saying the Aetherlight would be responsible for kids finding bad things on YouTube because staff posted a link to their Episode 4 trailer on the forums. And YouTube is worse.

Well, I did say that I was doing just that haha. ..

But no, it would not be the same. Videos from YouTube are allowed because they are moderated here. YouTube is something known by parents and guardians, and if you go ask, I'm sure you'll find that many of the Aetherlighters here have restrictions on such.

Discord, however, is different. It does have the capability for private conversation, in fact, that's pretty much what it's meant for. So, this isn't show-a-cool-video-but-there's-a-chance-you'll-find-something-bad. It's introduce-a-tool-that-can-be-dangerous. I know all this because it has HAPPENED. Not on the World Journal or the Washington Post, but to people I know in real life.

Besides, YouTube videos have been posted by moderators before. I don't see any of them posting links to Discord server. Is Discord something that you've gotten express permission for? Or is it just something you think can help? Because, from past experience we all here know, it's that the staff can't have places with the potential for unmoderated chat. No matter how safe or "trustworthy" whoever's in control of it may be.

Again, this is setting an example. If you let people know that having safe and moderated servers on Discord is okay, how long is it going to be before someone else gets the idea that they want to get some more popularity by making their own server. It's only natural that, eventually, one of them is going to be not so safe. What will you tell them? That only you can make Discord servers? Only you can post the links? That seems a bit restrictive for something you recommended in the first place, doesn't it?

Point is, and I won't restate it, Discord and things similar to it have much potential for good. But just as much for bad. And if you can't control people, how would you control things if something bad really did happen? That would be on you because it wasn't the Aetherlight staff who okay-ed a Discord server, it wasn't them that started it. People will be treated accordingly for what they do, because that's what they did. But I can tell you from experience that parent's don't usually just stop at punishment, they go forward and take away what was causing the problem and possibly more. Is that going to be Discord? Is that going to be the Aetherlight itself?

And on the slight chance that the blame is put on you- it's not going to look good when someone says "That Aetherlight moderator posted a link to something that eventually got my child hurt." Not good, at, all. Not for us, not for them, not for you, not for Aetherlight.

I don't plan on posting any more about this here, if I have to, I will, but if possibly, let's just let this stop here. And, hopefully, this will stand to be a warning (even a forewarning because I've seen this before), so that maybe you'll think twice before opening the community here to things that can get out of control.

If anything, I think we should get @Coop_Blimppenny or @Anakin_Steamwalker to have the final word about it.

Look, I agree with both you and @Hanna_Brassheart here. I don't know about you guys, but I ask my parents for almost any website that I visit, much less join and make an account. That is not something my parents would feel safe with, me just going and clicking links all over the place and making accounts on servers I don't even know.

So, I don't know if it's different for you guys, and by the looks of it, it seems that it is. Why can't we just promote Discord for Hanna's blog, and then we can ask our parents if it's okay? We wouldn't "get in trouble" if our parents didn't know already that we are in Discord, right? So, why can't we just offer a warning: "GO TO DISCORD AT YOUR OWN RISK" XD

Other than that, for me, it has been a great way to communicate with Hanna and everyone else on there.

Well, when I was in logic class in school we learned certain codes spies used to use utilizing the alphabet. But they wouldnt have worked if it was out of the usual order. Plus having them in order makes it easier for younger people to memorize them.

If the alphabet were made in a different order, like xabkuilop...etc, people would learn it that way and sing it that way. Why does it start with A instead of any other letter?
