It's Scary!

MY cure for that was imagining if I had a gigantic one as a pet I could ride around on.

I'm not exactly fond of gigantic spiders, but gigantic ROBOTIC spiders are an entirely different story. I would love to have one of those.

I still like my little imaginary pet.

I have an imaginary pet Tyrannosaurus Rex. he is a great deal bigger than he used to be.

Reasoning your fears away is extremely effective. It helps me to be less intimidated by roller coasters and other rides.

I'm pretty much only afraid of the simple stuff:

1 spiders (SUPER CREEPY)

2 snakes (why are they so slick???)

3 heights (tell me to jump off a building, and die. JK but you know what I mean)

4 big dogs (don't you hate it when they jump up on you?)

5 the dark (I hate it when I can't see anything!)

6 my brother (I really don't like the fact that he likes to scare me)

Actually not a bad idea! I'll try to find a way to scare him. He's also afraid of spiders, so it might not be too difficult!

Get one of those plastic spiders from the store, a realistic one. Leave it in your brother's bed and wait for the scream.

If you want to go further, tie a piece of thread or fishing line from the spider to some object you know your brother will move. when he moves it, the spider will move. He screams all the louder.

I confess an irrational fear of people liking me, in all senses of the word.

NOOOOOO! You actually like me? That means you will turn your brain off and stop criticizing me for all of my sinful mistakes. You might actually overlook them and give me an opportunity to hurt you without you even realizing it! This is an apocalypse!

Even worse, I am also scared of liking someone else.

That is a sinful human being you are talking to, and that person is highly dangerous. Stop feeling good about them before you get hurt.

I have. I am also willing to face these particular fears down.

The reason for posting is, I am wondering if anyone else on the forums actually shares this fear. Or if they have the opposite fear, the fear of not being liked.

I used to. I used to be afraid I was too scary for the boys in my church and that was why they didn't want to date me. These days, I just roll with. If I intimidate them, so be it.

I've found that if you worry about whether or not people like you, they won't like you, at least not the real you. If you decide you don't give a fig, you'll find that people do like you for who you are.
