"How much longer until we reach the bomb?" I asked Lilliana as if she knew. I was just looking for a way to get out of the sewers, though.
"Only a little longer," She stated. "Just keep going."
I sighed before continuing on. A few more minutes of nothing passed before finally something happened. I heard a squeak of some kind. I remembered that some bombs or traps activated with a squeak! Or scared people, or just mice, but who's counting?
It was so dark in the sewer, it was hard for me to see properly. I quickly pulled one of my pistols out of it's holster and aimed it at the sound. I heard Lilliana squeal, and then something sliding into place. Something big. "What is it?" I said in her direction. "Lilliana?"
There was no answer from Commander Umbrellascope. "Are you okay?" Worry overtook me, and I dropped my pistol into the shallow water. I stumbled over to where Lilliana used to be. "Lilliana!"
I reached out with my hands, but they only met cold, damp, stone. She was trapped behind there, or worse! I didn't even know if she was still alive. She could have been crushed under the stone. I had to hold out hope, though. I waited a few seconds before shouting at the stone, just in case she could still hear me. "Are you alright?" Nothing. I frowned. I didn't even know if she was still alive? She could have been crushed under the stone. I had to hope, though.
"If you can hear me, I'm going to continue the mission. We have to stop that bomb from destroying the base." I turned away and ran down the other corridor. "Good luck." I whispered as much to her as it was to myself.
