Sweat trickled down my brow as the imperial's footsteps grew louder. I heard voices talking about how much of the base they had searched. They would have no idea how much Resistance they would soon find in this one room.
"Get ready." I heard a Resister whisper. I had a pistol in one hand and a sword in the other. I was ready.
A resister kicked the door open and threw a grenade into the crowd of imperials. Some of our enemies dove for cover, mistaking our grenade for one that would actually explode. Instead, the grenade made a hissing sound as smoke filled the room.
Some of the higher ranking imperials began to bark orders to others, but all of the imps were confused. We charged out of the room, but I stayed back to provide cover support with my pistol.
Once it was out of ammo, I dropped my pistol, grabbed my sword with both hands, and ran towards who I thought the leader was. She had thrown a knife at Isla, who was one of my friends in the Resistance. Luckily, Isla was able to dodge the attack. I let out a breath of air that I didn't know I was holding.
I turned back to the leader of the attack. She knew how to handle a sword, that was for sure. I had to intervene if our forces were to last.
I ran towards the Imperial, my sword firm in my hands. The leader was about to finish off one of our resisters when I thrust my sword above him, blocking the imperial's blow. The Resister I had just saved regained his footing, scrambled for his sword, and engaged another opponent. The Imperial scowled at me, and I smirked.
