When I was homeschooling we didn't take breaks for summer or holidays. Kinda wish we had, maybe, at least for holidays. But we didn't celebrate really any of them so it wouldn't have happened anyway.

I’m sorry to hear that. That must have been rough.

In high school and college the homework never stopped anyway, but at least I got Christmas break. I’m not a materialist, but an entire childhood without Christmas? Having to do school when my friends are out playing with their new toys? That would have got to me.

Heh, I didn't mind at the time to be fair. I didn't study on weekends usually. And all of my friends were within the group I was in, so no one celebrated Christmas and I don't remember ever particularly wanting Christmas gifts. Birthdays weren't a given to celebrate but sometimes we did. But yeah in short I don't remember feeling the lack, but now that I'm out I love Christmas and getting gifts as part of that.

My parents and relatives just pay me off at Christmas and write me and my brother checks these days. It has its advantages.

I'm starting to want gifts now that it's ok to want them but I often have trouble thinking of what I'd like. I've settled on books as a surefire answer, haha.
