who has read and like Harry Potter and the series?
Also what was the most surprising part of all the books people read?
Who did you want to survive that died tragically.

The 2 big ones for me were probably Albus Dumbledore's Also Sirius Black's deaths.

We have lots of varying opinions on this subject as a community. I personally would not like to have a dedicated Harry Potter topic here on The Aetherlight, as there will likely be discussions about and references to magic, which is unbiblical. I suppose I don’t mind if we keep this topic if you guys promise to keep that stuff to a minimum.

Please if you have an opinion, do post it. We Community Moderators place a heavy weight on community opinions, and try to act symbiotically with them as much as possible.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a Harry Potter topic, for multiple reasons.

Since we all have varying opinions on what is or is not Biblical, I don’t thing it’s within our jurisdiction as merely community moderators to say whether this topic stays or goes. If enough people have a problem with it, though, we could bring it up to Mech Lightspark.

Yeah I agree. If you want to talk about it on like the book or movie topic, but we don't need a whole topic because it's views are very contradictory to the Bible.

I disagree. the Harry Potter series were some of my favorite books. @Jo_Northsnap i was really suprised at Fred's death the first time i read it. also the one who was with the goblins (I cant remember is name. Dean?) that was also kinda suprising.

I like Harry Potter and It would be cool to have this but I understand if you guys don't want a whole topic dedicated to it. However, it would nice to have all of the posts on one topic but that goes for everything and that's a whole lot of topics.

I am actually in a kind of debate with my friends about Harry Potter. They want me to read or watch them and my family is very against witchcraft. There was an article on Wikipedia that I found interesting about this. It was Religious Debates over the Harry Potter series. You guys should look it up. It talks about how Harry Potter is different from Narnia or LOTR because Narnia, the witch has a wand that turns people to stone, but she doens’t utter any spells. I haven’t seen the movies, but Gandalf in the books doesn’t speak any spells, he says things like, “I put a shutting spell on the door, but then it was retaliated with a terrible counter spell” so he doesn’t tell you it, but Harry Potter does say the spells which can mean you can say them out loud. And Harry Potter has links to astrology, clairvoyance, and numerology. Where was Narnia and LOTR don’t.

I'm torn. I read the books myself and enjoyed them (although Harry and some of the other characters are kinda rude ), but I also know there's a lot of controversy going on among us Christ-followers about it. I really like @Caleb_Maxbridge's point a lot; I was always confused about why magic in Narnia or LOTR is okay but not Harry Potter. That makes a lot of sense. I'll definitely look up the page you mentioned.
If anyone else here likes the books, I'm down to have a chat about it, moderators-willing. What's your house? Mine is Ravenclaw.

I took a quiz on the Harry Potter site and tried to be Gryfindor like Harry. I'm probably the one who likes Harry Potter the most in our family because we only watch the two fantastic beasts on my birthday and I got it on my birthday last year so after paying the math budget (SuperCarlinBrothers reference, they also like Harry Potter), I've only watched both of them twice.
