A question for @Mech_Lightspark and anyone else on the development team:
Would y'all be willing to share your stories about what led you to game development, and the technical skills and people skills that you regularly use?
I have a few years before I get out of the military, starting to think about what I want to do next, and thought that "software testing" sounded fun. I'm sure there are also younger folks on the forums who are starting to think about what type of career they might want to get into.
However, I quickly found out that there are so many different options, and a lot of terminology to learn.
- College degrees, certifications, online classes, short tutorials, or self-teaching through trial & error.
- Software, hardware, programming languages, script languages, web development tools, etc.
- Hard skills (technical) and soft skills (people).
How did you get into the field? Which skills and tools do you use for developing / testing / running The Aetherlight? Which ones have you used at other jobs?
I know this could be a long conversation, and you have a lot of development work in the queue, but we'd appreciate any time you're willing to spend sharing with us.
(I also saw posts from a few other folks about being developers or wanting to start something, some a few years old, and I'd love to hear your stories as well. @Jacoby_Elderfun1 @Xonos_Darkgrate1 @Titan_Candleburst )
