Well... The genealogies are not that great to use. When they say, Whoever was the son of Whoever, 'son' could mean grandson or even great-great-great grandson! They just list the most important people. But my guess is as good as yours, we will never know until heaven.
Aside from genealogies, radioactive decay, rock layers, organic decay, ice sheets, even micro evolution point towards the 6,000-10,000 year range. I believe the earth is 6,000 years old.
I have not looked into it that far, but from what I have learned in the book, It Couldn't Just Happen has lead me to learn and believe a lot of things that has to do with subject like this, go check it out. Its really good.
Thank you, sir.
Somebody pointed out that volcanos are considered extinct after 10,000 years, when I don't think that the Earth has existed for that long.
I think the world is AROUND six to ten thousand years old.
That sounds acurate.
Did you know that the moon is slowly getting farther and farther from earth? That means that it was closer in the past, and if the earth was millions of years old(its not though) then the moon would have been touching the earth!
Also the earth is slowly spining slower. That means that it was spining faster in the past, so if the earth was millions of years old(its not though) then the earth would have been spining so fast that it would have thrown everything on earth into space!
I don't think that's accurate . . . From what I learned, extinct volcanos are simply volcanoes that are considered not to be active at any time soon. Not to be confused with dormant. I'm no expert though.
Question of the day: Are parallel universes real?
Also, could a moderator rename this topic simply "Fun Science".
What do you think? I myself have not given the subject much thought.
Now that I consider it, are they possible? Could there be other worlds where God and His angels operate? Could there be a battle raging around me in another dimension and I completely oblivious to it?
A different dimension and a parallel universe are not the same thing.
would you please explain the difference and whether you think it could be possible?
Parallel universe... Like Marus or Narnia?
I parallel universe is, supposedly, created every time we make a decision, or anyone does. In the parallel universe you decided on the other option and your life continued as effected from there as yours is currently.A dimension is the minimum number of coordinates necessary to determine a point. The first dimension is a single point. The second dimension is points in a plane. The third dimension is points in different planes. The fourth dimension (our dimension) is points on multiple planes moving through space-time.Any dimension after the fourth dimension is inconceivable by humans. Here is an illustration. Left to right is first to fourth. The first dimension is illustrated by a line, the second by a square, the third by a cube, and the fourth by a tesseract:
That's an interesting concept, @Hans_Oddcraft. I've often wondered about that myself.
I believe that God knows every decision we would have made and the outcome of it, but I don't believe there are parallel universes. Let's speak hypothetically. In a different universe, we might make a decision that affects our salvation. In one universe we might die an unbeliever, in another we might come to Christ. I don't believe God would allow parallel universes to operate like that.
What if God allows even the spiritual dimension to exist within the bounds of quantum physics?
Then scientists could research and understand it. The spiritual realm is not something like that. Scientists don't know where the soul comes from, how it is tethered to the human body, or what its nature is. If they did, we'd soon have a real-life Frankenstein's monster on our hands. I know there are technologies that claim to be able to read the human mind and connect our minds to machines, but there are sure to be consequences because scientists don't know the full scope of what they're dealing with.
God uses a higher form of science, but it is still science. Since God created everything where do you draw the line.
I draw the line when man starts trying to be God.
Man has the instinctual desire to explore and create which is only natural. Is using a telescope to look at the stars "trying to be God" since we can't see the stars with the naked eye, but God can?
