Location: Green Shade Caverns

I sat down on the front porch of my house that was built into the cliff near the stream that runs out of Forgotten Green Shade Caverns and sipped tea. I was just sitting there when Hanna Brassheart walked up.
“Hey Hanna!” I called.
“Hello.” Hanna said, her face was grim.
“Um, won’t you come inside and sit down? You look like you have something serious to tell me.” I suggested.
“Oh no, here is fine. Emily-“ She sat down next to me, “Well, this what I need to tell you: Hans Oddcraft is in Evercity, he’s seeing Lucky himself at 10:00 tomorrow morning! What do we do?”
“Wait...the Hans Oddcraft who was in the plan to burn Evergreen Meadows?”
“Yep.”
“And The Hans Oddcraft who made the Boomlands?”
“Yep.”
“And the Hans Oddcraft who got banished for trying to throw Lucky into solitary confinement and take the throne!”
“Yep.”
“The Hans Oddcraft who-“ I stopped.
“Who is your brother?” Hanna whispered. “Yes.”

Location: Evercity

A man, in fine clothes walked into a back ally and slipped into the shadows. Soon a women joined him...
“Have you got it?” The man asked.
“Yes, who do you take me for? A liar?” Said the women.
“Some would.” Responded the man.
“How dare you!”
“I do, but you can’t lay a finger on my because I have the law on my side, now hand it over.”
“Not really.”
“What do you mean?”
“That’s stolen property right there.”
“Yeah, And you did a good job stealing it, considering you had trouble stealing fruit from the market undetected.”
“Whatever.”
“It’s true, I’ve been watching you.”
“Not personally I’m sure.”
“Your smart.”
“Your sarcasm will get you in trouble one day.”
“I’m not sarcastic.”
“Are too.”
“Are not!”

“Okay! Just stop.”
“1:00 tomorrow. Riley’s place, right?”

Clank Clank
“Please just stop hitting the door with that knife!” A man from the corner said. “It won’t work.”
Jacoby Elderfun put his knife back in his belt, hidden behind his cape.
“Sorry, I just need to get out of here!”
“Why?”
“Because I’m supposed to be delivering Aether-Bibles to some students at the Academy Automicus.” Jacoby answered. “Which is illegal...anyway I’m Jacoby Elderfun, Who are you?”
“I’m Kieran Candleview. I’m here because they caught me trying to steal a Experiment from the Labs.”
“The Labs! Aren’t those abandoned?”
“They were I guess, but not anymore.”
“I need to get out of this mud hole and find out what’s going on! You want out?” Jacoby asked.
“Of course I do.” Responded Kieran.
“Okay, I’ve been trying to unscrew the bolts on the door.”
“Let me help you.” Kieran took the knife and tried to turn the bolt.
“It’s...its...turning!” He exclaimed.
They got all the bolts out and took off down the hall.
“I need the Aether-Bibles. I think there hidden somewhere!” Jacoby said.
“Let’s try in here!” Kieran called. Jacoby ran up.
“An office! They could be in here. I’ll just pick the lock.”
“No need, it open.” Kieran said pushing open the door.
“Great, come on.” Jacoby said rushing in. They searched the room, then Jacoby found them.
“Here! There in this cupboard!” He pulled the Aether-Bibles out and put them in a bag. “Now, Let’s get outta here!”
They ran out of the Grease Pits into the Northern Slurries.
“Not frozen today.” Said Kieran. They stated walking.
“So Kieran,” Said Jacoby, “Are you part of the Resistance?”
“Nope, I’ve heard of it though. I’ve never been interested in joining.” Answered Kieran.
“You should join! It’s exciting. Plus you get to work for the Scarlet Man!” Jacoby told him.
“The Scarlet Man?” Questioned Kieran.
“Shh, we’re at the border crossing.” Jacoby said quietly.
“What about those books? Who are you going to get them across?” Asked Kieran.
“Look, the check point is built over a river. The river is frozen, so while you go across and keep them occupied, I’ll slide the bag across the river, then join you. Got it?”
“Got it, let’s go!”

Knock Knock
“You think she’s home?” Hanna asked. We were standing in front of Gloria Oldenpinner’s house.
“I don’t know,” I responded, “I mean, she is a detective.”
The door opened and Gloria stepped out.
“Hi, Emily, Hanna. What can I do for you?” She asked.
“Can we talk to you inside?” I asked.
“Um, sure. Come in.” Gloria opened the door wider so we could call me in. “What’s this about?”
We sat down, then I said: “Hans is back, we need you to alert Riley.”
“What! I thought Hans was banished. And Riley, I don’t need to tell him. He probably already knows. You know Riley.” Gloria said.
“Emily,” Hanna said, “you didn’t give me time to tell you, Riley was the one who told me.”
“Oh...Okay.” I stuttered.
“Now I have some news for you!” Gloria said excitedly, “The History of Aetherasia was stolen from a museum from Evercity!”
“What!” Hanna gasped.
“Yeah, so I’m busy.” Gloria said.
“But, Gloria? Why would my brother come back?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Emily, can ask you a question? Do you love your brother?” Gloria asked.
“With all my heart.” I responded. “Even though he has done evil things to me, I still find love for him.”
“I’ll help.”

Location: Snowmoores

Jacoby ran behind a bolder and crouched down.
I need to get this bag across without them noticing. He thought.
He slide the bag and it got to the opposite bank.
Okay, now I’ll join Kieran.
He walked up to the border crossing. The guards were asking Kieran for his papers. They looked up as Jacoby approached.
“Papers.” They muttered. Jacoby handed them over. “They look in order, you two can go.” Jacoby and Kieran walked through. When they were out of hearing range Kieran asked: “Did you get the bag across.”
“Yes, now we need to go back and get it.” Jacoby responded.
“No need, I’ve got it right here.” They looked up.
“Iliara Mustardtop!” Kieran exclaimed.
“This,” She said pointing to the back, “is illegal. What your doing, is illegal.” She glared at them then said: “Taka, take these away and burn them.” A girl seemed to appear out of no where and took the bag.
“Of course.” Taka smirked and walked off.
“What! No!” Jacoby shouted. “No those are mine!”
“Finders keepers.” Iliara said over her shoulder as she walked away.
“What? No! I-I-give me that back!” Jacoby rushed at Taka. Taka dodged, holding the bag in the air.
“Go away!” She shouted.
“No! Give that to me!” Jacoby reached for the bag, Taka kicked him in the shin.
“Ouch! Hey, what the big idea? Don’t think I’m going to be soft on you just because your a girl!” Jacoby yelled.
“I’m not a girl!” Taka hissed, “I’m 17.”
“Yeah! Fine. Now give me-“
Jacoby grabbed for the bag again, this time he got it. “Yes!” He shouted.
“Give me that bag of Aether-Bibles.” Jacoby turned around. Iliara stood behind him with a fog pistol.
“No!” Jacoby yelled. “The Scarlet Man himself said to take this to the Academy.”
“I’m not afraid to use this. And the Academy is where I trained. I should know the rules.” Iliara said, “that is not aloud!”
Jacoby snuck a look at Kieran. He was pale.
“Why?”
Jacoby heard him whisper,
“Would he risk his life for those books? For this Scarlet Man?”

Locatin: Evercity

“Emily, Emily, Emily Purplebottle.” Hans Oddcraft mumbled as he walked through Evercity. “Why? Why did I-“ He stopped and looked at a poster. “Is that, Sliver?” He looked at the words under the picture.
“Finger prints of Sliverclaw Bonnetfolly were found in the museum of history on the night that the book The Real Story written by Felix Jollypackage was stolen. Reward, $500,000.
What! That Cat! Going on and robbing a museum with no gloves on! I’ll fix her later. Now I need to get to Lucky.”
Hans walked off.

Locatin: Snowmoores

“Just hand them over! It’s not worth risking for life, Jacoby Elderfun!” Kieran shouted.
“Yes it is! Every bit!” Jacoby said.
You have five seconds, boy.” Iliara threatened. “1!”
“Give it to her and let’s go!” Kieran called.
“2!”
“No! I refuse!” Jacoby snapped.
“3!”
“Then just run! I’ll follow you!” Kieran suggested.
“4!”
“She’ll shoot!” Jacoby said.
“I will anyway!” Iliara yelled. “5!” She pulled the trigger. Green flew through the air. Jacoby hit the ground. “Fine then, keep your books.” Iliara stormed off.
“No, no, no.” Kieran said, in shock. “Jacoby?”
Jacoby lay on the ground gasping.
“Jacoby?”
“The watch.” Jacoby whispered. “Ariella.”
“What? Watch? Ariella? Jacoby! No!” Kieran looked at Jacoby.
He’s unconscious. Kieran thought. What watch? And who’s Ariella?
Suddenly he got it. He grabbed Jacoby wrist and there was watch, but it was not a clock, it was a black screen. Kieran tapped it. It lit up.
“Um, hello, Ariella?” Kieran asked the watch. The screen went dark for a minute then came back on, this time it was quietly beeping. Kieran took the watch off Jacoby and put it on, just then somebody appeared on the screen.
“Ariella here, hello? Who is this?” She asked.
“Hello, I’m Kieran Candleview, I’m with Jacoby Elderfun.”
“Oh? What do you need?” She asked.
“Okay, Jacoby got shot with a fog pistol and is unconscious. He told me to call you before he blacked out.” Kieran said.
“All members of the Resistance have a Aether-meter. It holds Aether and will be on his belt. Drop some in his mouth.” A crash sounded from the watch.
“Ariella?” Kieran asked.
“I need to go! Do what I said! Aether is stronger than fog!” Ariella turned off her watch. Just as she did, Kieran heard her say something: Iliara Mustardtop.

Location: Abandoned Labs

“I need to go! Do what I said! Aether is stronger than fog!” Ariella tapped her watch and turned. “Iliara.” She said.
“I’m arrest you in the name of Lucky!” Iliara said.
Ariella noted the fog pistol on Iliara’s belt.
“What for?”
“For constructing experiments without a license and with out government permission!”
Ariella frowned. “Your busy today.”
“What?” Iliara asked.
“I heard Jacoby got shot by a fog pistol today.”
“For smuggling Aether-Bibles!”
“Maybe.”
“Tell me everything you know, or you’ll end up like Jacoby.”

Crash
“Will you please be quiet!” Gloria whispered/yelled. “I’ve got a lead and I’m going to lose it if you keep distracting me!”
“Sorry.” I whispered “But I did not knock that barrel over.”
“What?” Gloria turned around and looked at me and Hanna, then pointed. “Automaton.”
I followed her gaze. But there was only a smoking pile of metal left. Hanna stood next to it, her Rocket Hammer on her shoulder. Hanna grinned.
“Let’s go!” She said.
“Ok. Let’s see. I found a piece of paper from the book this morning near the entrance of the Business District. The. I found out before you two arrived that Sliverclaw Bonnetfolly lives here.”
Gloria stopped in front of a house and knocked. A women with a sliver hair and a robotic hand came out.
SliverCLAW. I thought, I bet she has claws in that robotic hand. I wonder what her real name is.
“Hello, I’m Gloria Oldenpinner, detective. We want to know if you know anything about The Real Story written be Felix Jollypackage. It was stolen yesterday.”
“Um, I don’t know anything.” Sliverclaw dropped her gaze. Gloria glared at her. “Except that I heard that Hans Oddcraft has it!”
“What? Where did you hear that?” Gloria asked.
“Around.”
“Where did you hear it?” Gloria insisted.
“A friend of mine heard it from a friend of her’s. Now I’m busy, so if I’ll just please go-“ Sliverclaw closed the door.

Location: Evercity

Knock Knock
“Come in.”
The door opened and Hans Oddcraft came in, he bowed slightly.
“Emperor Lucky.”
Lucky nodded and motioned for Hans to sit down.
“Welcome, Commander Hans.” Lucky said. “Now, I have let you back only to discuss this one thing...The Real Story.”
“I have it.” Hans draws a book from he bag. Lucky snatched it from his hands and opened it. They sit in silence as Lucky reads a few pages. Suddenly he slams the book closed. Hans jumped.
“This book is the real story...” Lucky murmured.
“Sir?” Hans asked.
“Were did you get this?” Lucky looked at Hans.
“Silverclaw Bonnetfolly.” Hans said without hesitation. Lucky nodded.
“Fog...it has made everyone forget. If the people could read this book, they would revolt against me.” Murmured Lucky.
“Sir?”
“This meeting is over.” Lucky said.
“But what to do you mean, ‘Fog makes everyone forget?’
Forget what?”

Location: Snowmoores

“Hello?” Kieran looked at the watch. Oh well, she’s gone. Kieran grabbed the Aethermeter that had fallen to the ground in the fight with Iliara. He opened it. Instantly purple swirled into the air like it had felt trapped. Kieran put his hand in the midst of the swirling purple Aether. It felt wet like mist. When he pulled his hand out it had Aether dripping off it. Some fell into Jacoby’s mouth. Kieran watched. But Jacoby stayed still.

Location: Urchins Grotto

I stepped into the Grotto with Gloria and Hanna.
“I wonder what Hans was talking about with Lucky.” Hanna wondered out loud.
“I don’t know,” Gloria said “But I need to go so if you’ll excuse me...” Gloria walked off.
“Hello?”
I turned, a urchin was standing behide me.
“Hi, I’m Emily Purplebottle.” I said.
“I’m Skybie Jumpdust. Whatcha doing?” She asked.
“Um, working on a case.” I said not paying very much attention to Skybie because I had noticed someone creeping through the shadows at the far end of the grotto.
“Oh! How exciting, can I ‘elp you?” She asked.
“Uh, maybe. How about you go to the Beacon and talk to Alexander. He’ll give you something too do.” I tell her, still watching the person.
“Okay, thank ‘ya ‘guv. See ‘ya ‘round.” Skybie walked off. Hanna nudged me and pointed to the person.
“Yeah, I know.” I whispered. “Let’s follow.” We creep along at a distance, the person soon met with some automation, and got in a jeep.
“Quick!” Said Hanna. Get on the back.”
“What! Why?” I said.
“So we can find out where there going!” Said Hanna.
“Okay. I’m coming.”

Location: Abandoned Labs

“Ariella. Come on!” Iliara said. “Tell me.”
“I won’t.” Ariella said.
“I am frustrated with you people!” Iliara shouted and shot the fog pistol! Ariella dodged, jumped forward and wrenched the fog pistol out of Iliara’s hands. Iliara stepped back then and whistled. Automations walked into the room. “End of the line, Ari.” Iliara smirked. Automations grabbed Ariella. “Take her away. Fog dungeon.” Iliara waved her hand. Ariella struggled to get free then everything went black.

Location: Evercity

“Leave. Now!” Lucky hit the table. Hans walked out the room.
Time to see Silver. He thought. Hans walked out of Lucky’s meeting room and almost bumped into Ilayne Merespark.
“Hans! What are you doing.” Ilayne asked.
“I was just talking with the Emperor, Ilayne. And what might you be doing?” Hans responded.
“Things. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go.” Ilayne brushed past Hans. “Bye.”
“Hey wait! Never mind. Uh, Yeah! Bye.” Hans called after her. He walked through Lucky’s palace and out the gate—right past Emily and Hanna.

“There he goes!” I whispered to Hanna.
“Lets follow him!” Hanna whispered back.
“But who was that girl who went in? The one we were following.” I asked.
“I don’t know! Let’s just follow Hans!” Hanna said. “Come on!”
“Okay.” I followed Hanna into Evercity.

Location: The Old Mount

“Why is there a automaton goat up here?” Grace Newgadget grinned and pulled out her starter pistols and shot at the goat. “Never mind that! It’s going.”
“Hey, Grace.” Someone called from behind her. Grace turned.
“Shadow. Hi. What are you doing here?” Grace asked Shadowfire Fanglecraft.
“Lukas’s told me to come up and find out why goats are up here. I think Larry needs too fix his goat pen.” Shadowfire chuckled, “Not much of a mystery really. What are you doing?”
Grace pulled on her blonde ponytail.
“Well...I was just getting a plasma globe when I ran into this goat.”
“Okay...anything else?” Shadowfire asked.
“Can I trust you, Shadow?” Grace asked.
“Yes.” Shadowfire said slowly, “Why? What do you mean?”
“The Scarlet Man wants me too find out were the big doors up here go to!” Grace explained.
“Doesn’t The Scarlet Man already know that?” Shadowfire asked.
“I don’t know. But we just need to trust him!” Grace said.
“Your right. Can I help?
“I think so. I don’t see why not. I’m trying to pull this lever down. May you hand me a can of oil from that sack?” Grace said, pulling on the lever that was next to the huge double doors in the side of the mountain.
“Uh, sure. This one?” Shadowfire said pull out a can.
“Yes, thanks.” Grace took the oil can and poured it in the gears under the lever. “Help me pull, Shadow!” Together they pulled. Suddenly the doors creaked and started too slide apart. “Come on!” Grace grabbed the sack and ran inside, Shadowfire following. As soon as they we’re both in the doors slammed closed, and they we’re left in utter darkness.
“Why was the girl so lightheaded? Because she had her head in a lampshade!”
“Not funny, Shadowfire!”

Location: Fogworks

Ariella opens her eyes. What happened? Were am I? I’ve completely forgotten. Ariella sat up and snapped her fingers as she remembered what happened in the Abandoned Labs. She looked around. It was so foggy she couldn’t see past her outstretched hand. A dull, green, faint light came from the left. Maybe there’s a door over there. Ariella stood up, her head spun. “Hello?” She called out. Nothing. But now she could hear things. Ariella walked toward the light and found a door with a bared window. The fog wasn’t so thick here. She looked out and saw Automatons. People. Automaton parts were everywhere. A women stood on a balcony looking over everything. “That is Cassandra, Mistress Fog. Wait, this is the Fogworks!” Ariella exclaimed. “Help.”

Location: Snowmoors

Kieran sat on a rock, kicking snow. “Kieran?” Kieran spun around. Jacoby stood there, behind him. “It’s a good thing you called Ariella when you did.” Jacoby said.
“Why?” Kieran asked.
“Give it enough time and fog that’s been injected into your body will turn you into a Automaton.” Jacoby sighed. “Thanks, Man.”
“Jacoby, why would you risk your life for the Aether-Bibles?” Kieran asked.
“Join the Resistance, meet the Scarlet Man and you’d understand.” Jacoby told him.
“Thanks, I will.” Kieran said “Where do I start?”
“The Beacon, No Mans Landing.” Jacoby answered. “Now I need to get going. I’m going to see Ariella. You go to The Beacon and I’ll see you around.”
“What if you get caught by Iliara again and she uses that fog pistol?” Kieran asked.
“I’ll be okay. Remember, the Scarlet Man will keep me safe. Now you go.” Jacoby started to walk away, “Bye!”

Location: Evercity

“Hurry up Em! We’re going to lose him!” Hanna rushed down the street. I ran after Hanna trying not to lose her in the crowd.
“Hanna! Wait for me!” I yelled after her. Finally Hanna stopped and I caught up to her. “Wait...this is Riley’s Coffee Shop. Where’s Hans?” I asked Hanna who was peering through the window. “We could just go inside instead of looking weird by staring through the window.”
“He’ll recognise us!” Hanna said.
“No he won’t, he’ll recognise me, not you.” I told her.
“Em, He’s talking to Sliverclaw.” Hanna motioned for me to come look. I darted over. “I knew Silver was guiltily!” She murmured.
“What are they talking about?” I said anxiously, “I need to talk to Hans!” I pushed the door open.
“Emily! No, don’t!” Hanna called after me. I went inside and walked up to Hans.
“Hans.” I said quietly. He ignored me, and kept talking to Sliverclaw, not even looking up. His satchel hung on his chair. I got an idea and ran over to Riley who was standing at the counter. “Hey Riley. I need favor.” I said.
“Sure thing, what is it?” He asked.
“Do you have a tracking device?”
“Yep.” He walked off and returned shortly. “Here you go.”
“Thanks.” I walked over to Hans again and tapped him on the shoulder. This time he looked at me.
“What do y—Emily!” He gasped and stood up, “what are you doing?” I slipped the tracking device into his satchel while he was looking at me. I looked up at him. Why was he always so much taller than me? Very annoying. I frowned at him. “Awww, come on Em.” He said, “We can be friends again. You’ve never held a grudge against anyone this long.” Hanna walked in. I looked at her. She didn’t smile.
“I’d like to be friends again, but you’re still with Empire, Hans.” I said, “come be part of the resistance!”
“You were with me once, the Empire. Things were better then, you had the whole Empire on your side, and me.” Hans said. Hanna looked at me hard.
“Y—your flattery won’t work. It might of when we were younger, but not now. The resistance is ten time better that the your Empire!” I had started to yell now.
“Really Em? You loved the Empire, then you had that dream, you were completely perplexed for days, hardly speaking, then you were gone. But I’m willing too say sorry!” Hans took my hand.
“Join the resistance, then I’ll forgive!” I said, pulling my hand away. Hans kicked me in the shin. I didn’t flinch. I didn’t kick back. I didn’t even feel it. “You know I can’t feel that. My leg, remember?”
“Oh right...your leg’s robotic.”
Hanna looked like she was about to faint. I wanted too faint. Too disappear and never come back. He took my hand again. Silverclaw had just sat, there listening. Now she got to her feet. Hanna stepped forward. “Emily. Please!” Hans drew me in for a hug. I couldn’t forget the day I had to get a robotic leg. An accident I was sure. But was it?
“I-I-I.” I stuttered. I shivered. Then ran. Out of Hans’s arms. Out of Riley’s Coffee Shop. Out the door. Past Sliverclaw and Hanna. Rushing out the door I smacked into Gloria.
“There you are Silv—! Emily! What’s wrong?” She looked at my frightened, pail face.
“Get away from me!” I pushed Gloria out of the way. I ran and ran and ran. Through Evercity. Over a river. Through woods. On and on. My vision blurred with tears.

Then I stopped. Sobbing and out of breath. A cold rush of air hit me. I looked around. “The Mount?” I was standing in the snow, looking at the huge doors in the side of the mountain. The wind whispered around. It seemed to be talking to me. Making sounds that sounded like ‘forgive’ ‘go back’ ‘it’ll be alright’. I sighed and looked at the big double doors. “Hello!” My ‘hello’ echoed off the cliffs. Then I heard something. Not my echo. A call for help. Coming from the doors.

Location: Abandoned Labs

Jacoby stepped in to the Abandoned Labs and looked around. He went through a passage and came to Arona Copperburst’s experiment room. He opened the door and saw Ariella’s sister, Arona standing in the middle of the room. “Arona! Hi. What happened?” Jacoby asked, tapping her in the shoulder.
“I don’t know.” She responded. “I’ve been helping Jefferson stop the meltdown, I had to go to No Mans Landing and when I came back this is what I found!” She spread her arms out. Papers were scattered all over the floor. Glass from broken jars lay on the floor. Oddly colored liquids dripped off a table onto the floor. Arona started to pick glass of the metal floor. “Why are you here Jacoby?” Asked Arona.
“One word: Iliara Mustardtop.” Jacoby responded.
“What did she do this time?” Asked Arona.
“This.” Jacoby pointed to the wound in his leg.
“Oh my! What happened?” Arona gasped.
“One word: Il-“ Jacoby started to say.
“No I mean what did she do too your leg?” Said Arona.
“She shot me a fog pistol, but don’t worry! It’ll heal on its own. Kieran gave me Aether.” Jacoby said.
“Kieran? Who’s that?” Asked Arona.
“A new friend, I told him about the resistance! Ariella told him too give me Aether and I came here to thank her but...” Jacoby trailed off, “She’s not here.”
“Automatons.” Arona whispered.
“What?”
“Automatons!” Arona said picking up something.
“How can you tell?” Jacoby looked at what Arona was holding: a Automaton gun.
“There was obviously a fight! A Automaton must have lost it in the fight!” Arona said excitedly.
“You’re saying Ariella was taken by Automatons?” Asked Jacoby.
“Yes, we have to find my sister. Let’s go.” Arona said.
“But where? We’re in the snowmoors, if your thinking of going to the Fogworks...that’s a long way a way.” Jacoby frowned, “Plus I’ve got these Aether-Bibles to deliver.”
Arona scoffed, “I’ll just program your communicator watch to teleport you to anywhere in Aetherasia!” Aaron said.
“Thanks!” Jacoby said taking off his watch and handing it to Arona. Soon she had programed the watch to be able too teleport him anywhere in Aetherasia and to anyone with a watch with teleportation abilities. “I’ll meet you when I’ve dividered the Aether-Bibles.” And with that Jacoby typed in a name on the watch and disappeared without a noise or a flash.

Location: Fogworks

Ariella groaned, “All this fog is going to kill me!” A key rattled in the cell door’s lock, Ariella jumped up. The door flew open and a limp body was dragged in by a guard. Ariella ran toward the guard and tried too knock him out so she could escape. The Automaton guard just pushed her away and closed and locked the door. “Rats! That was my way out!” She yelled after the Automaton. Then she remembered why the Automaton had come in the first place. Ariella turned and saw a girl laying on the floor. She was young with blond hair so light it was almost white. She had on a Sleuth Suit and Low Light Goggles which made it impossible too see if she was unconscious or not. “Hello?” Ariella whispered. She crept toward the girl. Suddenly she was on her feet and holding a eclectic cane that was pulsing with power.
“Back off!” She yelled. Ariella almost fell over when the girl stood up. “Who are you and what are you doing?” Ariella froze. “Who are you?” She yelled again. “I’m Elsa. Answer me are I will use this and it is strong enough to seriously injure you!” Ariella felt trapped.
Why didn’t they search this girl and take her wepons like me? Oh Scarlet Man help me! Ariella thought. Just then there was a loud thump from the corner.

Location: The Old Mount

“Hello! Who’s there?” I yelled. I frantically wiped away my tears and looked around. The sound had been so muffled I could barely tell where it had come from. Had it come from the doors? I heard another muffled shout but I couldn’t tell what it said. But it was definitely coming from the doors. I walk over to the lever next to the door and pulled with all my might. When it wouldn’t budge I rolled up my leggings and turned up the strength on my robotic leg so I could get it open by kicking it. I turned the strength up on my leg too max. I kicked the lever and it turned too my surprise. The doors creeked open and I ran inside.
“Don’t come inside!” The person inside yelled, “Just let us out!” But it was too late, I was in and the doors slammed closed. “Now we’re never getting out!” Moaned someone.
“Who’s there?” I said.
“I’m Grace.” Said the first voice.
“And I’m Shadow.” Said the second.
“I’m Emily Purplebottle. What are you doing here? It’s pitch black!”
I said.
“Never mind how we got here! How do we get out? Does anyone even have a light?” Asked Grace.
“I do!” I shout. I turned in my communicator watch, tapped it and a light came on. I turned off the watch and shone the light around. It was a massive cave. “Let’s look around.” I suggested and started forward.
“Um. Okay?” Shadowfire followed me but Grace hung back. “Coming Grace?” Shadowfire asked.
“I guess. But it doesn’t seem very safe. We could get lost.” Grace said.
“Come on Grace!” I called. She started to follow. I looked around at the huge cave. It was so beautiful!
“Emily, look out!” Grace screamed. But not in time. The next 3 second were in slow motion. I tripped on a rock and fell...into a deep cavern in the ground. My heart stopped. I looked up at Shadowfire and Grace’s shocked faces. This is the end! I though. I was the last thing I thought before blackness engulfed me and I knew no more.

Location: Evercity

Hans stood shocked, looking out the door after Emily. Hanna slowly sat down. Riley inched into the back room. Silverclaw just stood there. Hanna stood up and looked Hans in the face. “What do I not know?” She said angrily.
“A lot.” Hans said bluntly. Hanna glared at him. “You mean about Me, Emily, the Empire and her robotic leg?” Hans asked.
“Yes. Exactly! Why did you say that Emily was part of the Empire? Is that true Hans?” Hanna said. Hans collapsed into his chair and put his head in his hands.
“It’s a long, long, story. And truth me told I would rather not relate it.” He muttered. Hanna looked at him. “Listen,” Hans looked up, “Do really want too know?” Hanna nodded. “Okay. Help me find Emily and I’ll tell you what happened. Because I strongly doubt Emily will. Okay?” Hanna nodded again. “Sliver, I’ll be back but don’t bother to stay here. I could be a while,” They he said more quietly: “If she’s still who I think she is.” Sliverclaw got up and left.
“Okay! Let’s go. Where do you think she’d go?” Hanna asked.
“Somewhere with no people. She likes too sing.” Hans said.
“What’s that got too do with it?” Hanna asked.
“Emily has always loved music. It calms her. She thrives on it.” Hans said as he walked out. “I reckon she would go to ether Evergreen Medows, The Old Mount or the snowmoors. Somewhere with no people. Let’s go.”

Location: Academy Automicus

Knock Knock
“Hey, James! Open your window.” Jacoby whispered. A boy came to the window and pushed it open.
“Did the watch work?” He asked.
“Yes, here are the Aether-Bibles.” Whispered Jacoby.
“Thanks.” Said James taking the bag and pulling it through the window. “Goodbye!” And with that he closed the window. Jacoby was about to teleport himself to Arona when he got an idea. Why not just teleport himself to Ariella herself and find out where she really was then tell Arona? Great idea! Thought Jacoby as he typed in her name. Here I come Ariella!

He appeared a second later in a cell full of fog. “Ariella?” Jacoby said quietly.
“...Seriously injure you!”
Oh no! Jacoby grabbed his starter pistol and ran toward the voice in the thick fog. He crashed into Elsa in his desperation to find Ariella. Elsa fell to the floor. Her electric cane slid across the floor and hit the door. There was a crack and bang as the door blew off its hinges! “Jacoby!” Ariella cried, “How did you get here?”
“My watch! Now let’s go. He grabbed Ariella and ran out the door.
“Wait!” Elsa yelled from inside. Jacoby turned and saw Elsa trying too stand. “My leg! Help me.”
“This is really going to slow us down!” Jacoby moaned. He left Ariella and went back for Elsa, “What’s wrong with you? We have to go!” Jacoby said.
“You hurt my leg when you pushed me over!” Elsa sniffed.
“Don’t be such a baby. Come on.” He pushed her to her feet. She yelped and fell to the ground,
“Jacoby hurry! Automatons, they’ve noticed us!” Ariella called.
“Okay!” Jacoby called back, “Come on!” He said impatiently, he picked Elsa up. “Elsa? Ariella, she’s fainted! What do we do? Think Jacoby, think! Ah! Got it. Ariella, come in here.”
“Are you mad? They’ll lock us up again!” Ariella screamed.
“No they won’t just trust me!”
“Gah!” Ariella walked in. “Now what?” She asked.
“Make sure your touching me,
then teleport us to Lukas’.”
“Okay! I’ll try.” Ariella put her foot on Jacoby’s and typed on her watch and disappeared.
“Oh no! It didn’t teleport all of us!” Jacoby said. Automatons were coming into the room now. Scarlet Man, help!

Location: The Old Mount

“Emily!” Shadowfire yelled down the cavern.
“It’s no use Shadow. She gone and we’re stuck without a light.” Grace said glumly. She kicked the ground and her foot hit something. It clanged when it fell over. Grace quickly started to feel around. “I’ve found...it feels like...a lantern!” She shook it. “With oil in it!” Shadowfire looked at Grace who had turned the lantern on. “Yes!” Grace shouted. “Let’s go find Emily!”
“Okay...” Shadowfire slowly followed. They followed the cavern. It gradually started to slope down. Soon they heard running water.
“Do you think Emily landed in the river or the ground?” Shadowfire shuddered. “Do think she’s alright?”
“I don’t know Shadow.” Grace said, “But I’m sure the Scarlet Man will protect her.” They had walked in silence for a few minutes when they came to the bottom of the hill and Grace cried out: “Look! I can see someone! Over there!” She pointed to the bank next to the underground river. They started to run.
“Do you think it’s Emily?” Shadowfire asked.
“Who else?” Grace answered. As they came closer they saw that it was Emily. She was bruised, unconsciously, her hair had fallen out of its buns and her left leg was gone. “Oh My! What happened to her leg?” Grace exclaimed. She held the light closer. “It’s robotic.” She whispered. It had been ripped off at the knee.
“That must of hurt!” Said Shadowfire. “What do we do?”
“Take her to the Aetherasia Hospital!” Grace said. “Help me pick her up. And let’s find a way out.”
“I thought the hospital had closed.” Said Shadowfire.
“I just hope it will let in people like this!” Grace said. “Let’s go.”

Location: Evercity

The sun was setting as Hanna followed Hans through Evercity.
“What do you know about Emily that I don’t?” Hanna asked trying to spark a conversation.
“What do you know about her?” Hans said coldly.
“Well...she likes being with people, she likes fighting Autos, she’s quiet, bold, and tough.” Hanna stopped.
“Anything else?” Hans raised a eyebrow.
“I haven’t known her that long. Only several months.” Hanna said.
“Ah. Well there’s a lot you don’t know about her. She sensitive, Your right about her being tough. I takes a lot to get her to cry. She is also quiet, yes, she stands up for herself and other people and would make a good lawyer, but what made you think she was social? She’s never been social. But she’s changed since I last saw her. Maybe that changed as well.” Hans sighed. It was a sad, empty sigh, like we had lost something valuable. They walked in silence. Night was settling in and it was dark when they reached the Old Mount. The moon was behind causing it to send a long dark shadow across the land. Everything looked eerie. A waterfall ran down the side of the mountain. The wind blew cold. “Stay here.” Hans said abruptly.
“What? I can help you!” Hanna said starting to follow Hans. Hans didn’t say anything, he just kept walking. “Emily!” She shouted.
“Be quiet!” Hans snapped, “Did you hear that?” His voice softened.
“Hear what?” Hanna asked.
“Something from where the river starts, near the top of the mountain,” Hans looked up, “Ahk! I can’t see very much. The moons behide it. But I can see a shadow of something. Or someone.”

Location: The Old Mount

“I see light!” Shadowfire pointed to a patch of fading light near the riverbank.
“Yes! Help me.” Grace carefully picked Emily up. “She very light.” Grace seemed surprised.
“She did apparently have a robotic leg which would probably be heavy.” Shadowfire said, “Now let’s go.” They ran toward the light.
“Yikes! That’s a big waterfall. We must be on the opposite side of the mountain.” Grace said looking at a gap in the rock where the water ran down. “What can we do?”
“Shout.” Shadowfire said. “Like this: HELP! WHERE STUCK AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN WITH AN INJURED PERSON CALLED EMILY PURPLEBOTTLE!” She stopped and looked at Grace. “See?”
Grace stared at her. “Um okay?” They called as loud as they could. “Stop for a sec and see if we’ll get an answer.” Grace and Shadowfire went silent.

At the bottom of the mountain...

“Did you hear that!? Someone at the top of the mountain had Emily!” Hans turned to Hanna.
“Yeah! I did. We have to get up there. But how?” Hanna asked.
“Um...I know! Ask Julian if he can fly the Copper Petal up there. While you go get him, I’ll try to climb to the top and see what’s going on up there.” Hans said. Hanna reluctantly walked away. “Hurry!” Hans shouted. He started to run up the narrow mountain path.
After a while he came to a cliff and started to climb. The waterfall fell down the mountain 20 feet to his right. After what seemed like forever, because he had been a lieutenant in Lucky’s army, he had no experience climbing, he could see the top of the cliff in the darkness. He started to move closer to the waterfall. “Is someone up there?” He shouted. A face appeared at the top of the cliff. Someone murmured something he couldn’t hear then a second face appeared.
“Are you here to help us?” A female voice said.
“Yes! Do you have a rope?” Hans asked, still climbing up the cliff, but slower. More murmuring.
“Yes! Hold on.”
Hans was very close to the waterfall now, soaked to the skin, and barely able to hold on to the slippery rocks. A rope was lowerd down to him. As he grabbed for it he lost his footing and fell.....onto a wooden floor. He groaned then saw Hanna leaning over him.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“Maybe.” Hans said, looking around.
“It’s a yes or no question, Hans.” She grinned as she handed him his hat that had been laying on the deck.
He was on the Copper Petal with Julian at the wheel! “Haha! Just in time!” Hans exclaimed. He jumped from the Copper Petal to the cliff. “Hello ladies.” He tipped his hat. “Do you have Emily with you?”
“Yes.” Said the first one. “Just inside the cave. I’ll show you. By the way, I’m Grace.” Hans nodded and looked inside the cave.
“Emily.” He whispered. Then he shook himself and picked her up.
“We were going to take her to Aethasia hospital,” The second girl said. Hans looked at her. “I’m Shadow.” Hans nodded again and they all climbed onto the Copper Petal.

Location: Fogworks

Jacoby put Elsa down and pulled out his starter pistols. Automatons were aiming loaded guns at him. “Remain silent and come with us or you will be tased.” An Automaton said in its mechanical voice. Another automaton held a taser. Jacoby froze and put his hands up. The Automaton with the taser came forward. Jacoby pointed his pistol toward to and shot. It fell to the ground. The other Automaton jumped forward but Jacoby shot that one too. Suddenly there was a clank behide him. Jacoby slowly turned. A man behind him held the taser. Jacoby gulped.
“Sorry. But it has to be done.” The man said and fired the taser.
Jacoby fell to the ground, unconscious. The man grab Jacoby’s watch and pocketed it. “Take him to my office.” He said and walked off.

Location: Lucas’ Workshop

“What am I going to do?” Ariella paced back and forth in front of Lucas. “I can’t leave them! They’ll be captured! Probably have been captured.”
“Sprockets and springs!” Lucas exclaimed. “Don’t look at me! I don’t even know that your talken ‘bout.” He turned back to his invention and screwed a metal plate in.
“What are you working on?” Ariella asked and stopped pacing.
“Secret.” Lucas said flatly. Ariella nodded and started to pace again. “That’s very annoying!” He said, his back to her. “Your making to much noise. Go solve your problem someplace else.”
“Your right,” Ariella agreed. “I should solve my problem but...I’m stress paralysed.” She sighed and sunk down on a crate.
“That’s not a thing.” Lucas said, hammering at his machine.
“It must be!” Ariella through up her hands. “I’m outta her.” She walked out and not looking where she was going, collided with a urchin. “Watch where your going!” Ariella snapped.
“Oy! leave me alone.” She said.
“Sorry. Can you help me?” Ariella said, getting over her bad temper. The urchin frowned.
“With what? By the way, it’s Skybie.”
“I’m looking for my friend, Jacoby Elderfun.” Ariella explained.
“Oh yes! I’ve heard of him from Alexander.” She said excitedly.
“Your part of the resistance?” Ariella asked, surprised.
“Oh yes! Emily Purplebottle told me.” Skybie said.
“You know Emily?” Ariella asked, surprised.
“Well...I don’t really know her. I just bumped into her in the Grotto.” Skybie explained.
“Did she tell you what she was doing?” Ariella asked. Skybie shook her head. “Okay. This is what I want you to do.”

Location: Fogworks

“How long does it take for taser affects to wear off?” A irritated voice said.
“I don’t know, Otterquill. Just be patient. Look I think he’s coming to now.”
Jacoby eyes flew open. Two men sat behide a deck in front of him. One leaned forward and opened his mouth but Jacoby interrupted.
“What are you doing?! I demand my legal rights!” He shouted and grabbed for his pistol but found out he was tied to a chair.
However did I miss that? He thought.
“I am Jonah Claude and this is Spector Otterquill,” The man chuckled. “You are here for interrogation for-“
“Interrogation! What! Why? I don’t think you-“
“Be quiet!” Jonah shouted. “First off: Why are you here?” He raised a eyebrow. Jacoby rolled his eyes they thought, Why does the name ‘Claude sound so familiar? It’s almost like-Emily! Emily Claude! This must be her long lost father!
“I’m not talking.” He said.
“Maybe we should move him to a torcher chamber?” Otterquill whispered. Jonah held up his hand.
“That won’t be necessary.” He said, then narrowed his eyes. “Okay. Since you won’t talk will you at least say your name?” Jacoby kept his mouth closed. Jonah sighed and but his head in his hands. “Were you trying to break Elsa Overhurt out?” He asked suddenly, lifting his head.
“No.” Jacoby snapped. Jonah look at Jacoby suspiciously.
“They why were you in her cell? I have a long list of every prisoner in the Fogworks with dates. The last person to be brought was Elsa and that cell had Ariella Newheart in it. She was brought in to—Ariella...she was not there!” He shouted the last two words the turned to Otterquill. “Have 3 groups of 2 comb the Fogworks for her. Now!” Otterquill dashed out. Jacoby’s eyes got big. Jonah looked at him. “You know her?” Jacoby gulped.
“You won’t find her.” He said.
“How are you so sure?” Jonah gave him a sideways glance.
“I-um-I’m not talking.” Jacoby glared at Jonah.

Fogworks: Room 493...

“Hey everyone!” Otterquill burst into a room with about 12 Automatons in it. They all turned to look at him. “Boss wants you to comb the Fogworks for girl called Ariella Newheart. We think she’s escaped.” He pointed to 6 Automatons. “Split up into groups of 2 and come back to Lieutenant Jonah’s office in 1 hour.”
“You heard him.” A pacifier officer said. “Let’s go.” They hurried out of the room and down the hall. “Where are we going to get 6 combs from?” One asked.
“Not sure what he meant.” Said another.
“Don’t be so thick!” Otterquill yelled down the hall. “Combing something means a quick search.” All the automatons look at him then at each other.
“Okay. Let’s go.” The Pacific officer led them off.

Location: No Mans Landing

“Here we are.” Julian landed the Copper Petal and everyone stepped off.
“Look! The hospital’s open!” Shadowfire exclaimed. A woman met them at the door.
“Hello! I’m Kelli Oldenline. Won’t you please come in?”
“Thanks.” Hans said as he rushed in. “This is a emergency.”
“Oh yes. Come this way.” They walked into another room. “Lay her on his bed and I’ll get a doctor.” Said Kelli. “Now please wait in the waiting room.” They silently walked to the waiting room and sat down. Kelli walked out and down the hall and came to a door. She knocked. The door opened. “Cinnar. Come with me.” They went to room where Emily was.
“Why, it’s Emily!” Cinnar exclaimed.
“You know her?” Asked Kelli.
“Yes. She worked her for a little bit. Hmmm, she’s not seriously injured but I’ll have to replace her robotic leg. I’ll have Lucas make one.” Cinnar said. Kelli nodded and walked out.
“I’ll tell him.” She said as she walked out.
“Thanks! And make it quick.” Cinnar asked her. Kelli said she would and went off down the hall. Cinnar looked at Emily.

“I can’t revive her till I’ve put the robotic leg on and have Aether in it.” Cinnar told Hans in the front room.
“I see. How long with that take?” He asked.
“Not long. I think Lucas has a small stash, Kelli’s gone to get one.”
Just then Kelli walked in. “I got it.” She said holding up a paper bag.
“Thanks, Kelli. I’ll do that now. Won’t be long!” Cinnar and Kelli walked out. Soon Cinnar had it on and was about to tell Hans, Hanna, Shadowfire, and Grace. “Kelli, put Aether in this slot here and make sure she revives. I’ll be right back.” Cinnar pointed to a slot in the robotic leg.
“Sure.” Kelli said and watched Cinnar leave. As soon as she was gone, Kelli pulled a small bottle of fog out of her pocket and poured some into the slot. She closed it and waited. After a few seconds Emily’s eyes fluttered open. Kelli smirked. “Won’t Lukcy be pleased?” She said out loud and smirked.

I strange feeling came over me as I opened my eyes and sat up.
“Won’t lucky be pleased?” I turned and looked at the person who had spoke. She smirked at me. “Hi. I’m Kelli Oldenline.” She said.
I blinked. Something wasn’t right. I felt...how did I feel? Everything seemed so unclear. My mind was blank. I could remember only that I had fallen into a cavern and nothing else.
“Um-I-um-er-who are you again?” I stuttered.
“Kelli Oldenline. And thank Lucky your awake!” She said.
“W-w-what?” I mumbled.
“Lucky is good. Fog...good. The Empire...is good.” Kelli said.
“Um...yes. Yes! Your right?” I wasn’t sure what was going on but I willing to believe anything I heard at that moment. I felt strong again and I wanted to know where here was. “Where am I?” I asked.
“That doesn’t matter. You don’t want to be here it’s bad because they use Aether and Aether is poison,” Kelli asked and grabbed my wrist and pulled me off the bed. “Come with me and we’ll get out of here.” I agree with her and willingly followed. “Stop!” Kelli said suddenly. She pushed me into a hall and we watched to people go by, a man and a woman. The women looked like a doctor and the man and a blue mask, hat, and suit. Both looked familiar...Kelli pulled me down the hall and out to a door. She opened it and then pulled a small mask and some clothes out of a small satchel and handed them to me. “Put these on then we’ll get out of here.” I went in and changed. I came out in a City Runner and City Explorer mask. “There. Now no will recognise you.” I raised my eyebrows. Whatever does she mean?

Episode 7

Location: Fogworks

“We haven’t found anything, sir.” The automaton said to Jonah. The other automatons stood around him. “She’s...gone.”
“Did you search the everywhere?” The lieutenant asked.
“Yes, sir.” They responsed. Jonah gestured for them to leave and the automatons filed out of the room. Then he turned looked hard at Jacoby.
“I told you.” Jacoby said, smirking behind his mask. The man glared at him. “Now,” Jacoby continued, “Let’s talk about letting me go.”
“Not going to happen.” Jonah snapped. “I still want to know how you got here and why you came.” He turned to Otterquill after Jacoby said nothing. “I’ve had enough. He’s yours, do what you like with him.” Jonah got up and stomped out of the room. Otterquill grinned evilly.
“Come with me.” He said untying Jacoby and handcuffing him. Suddenly Jonah walked back in and threw Otterquill Jacoby’s watch.
“Here, take this. See if you can get it to work.” He said.
“Sure.” Otterquill said, catching the watch and putting it in his pocket.
“Oh and by the way,” Jonah said, “Don’t kill him. Yet.” Otterquill smirked.
“Sure.” He said as and Jacoby gulped as he was led away.
I may not mind dying because I know where I’m going, but I’m not dying today anyway! He thought and threw a glance over his shoulder at Otterquill who was walking behide him. As quick as he could, Jacoby fell backwards on Otterquill, causing him to fall to the cold, metal floor. Jacoby managed to scramble up with the keys and started to run as fast as he could, which was hard because he couldn’t use his hands, away from Otterquill.

Location: Books & Crannies

“So this is Books and Crannies?” Skybie asked. Ariella and Skybie looked at the sign hanging over a door. Ariella nodded and led the way inside.
“Aislinn should be here, she’s always reading the Lord of the Rings and stuff like that,” Ariella said, smirking. “Plus she’s not being a hero today as far as I know—and there she is right now,” Ariella waved to Arr Doe who was at the counter as she walked by. She stepped up to the chair Aislinn was sitting in, Skybie at her heels. “Um Aislinn?” She said. Aislinn didn’t even look at her but her eyes got big. “Aislinn!” Ariella said a little louder. Aislinn still didn’t respond but seemed to tense up. Ariella looked at Skybie and grinned. “ACE!” She shouted.
“OY AND OH NO! FRODO IS GOING TO—Oh...Hi Ariella! And...”
“Skybie.” Skybie told Aislinn.
“Okay. Nice to meet you.” She turned back to Ariella. “What were you doing?! Scaring me to death while I was reading a scary bit in a book!” Aislinn glared at Ariella while waving her arms in the air. Ariella stared laughing hysterically. “Okay, okay. What do you want?” Aislinn asked.
“Help.” Ariella said, sobering.
“What with?” Aislinn asked. “Looking for Pringles?” She grinned.
“Aislinn! I’m serious!” Ariella frowned then continued, “Jacoby is in the Fogw-“
“OY! OY! OY! We have to help him! Let’s go!” Aislinn interrupted.
“I wasn’t finished!” Ariella snapped.
“Opps...sorry,” Aislinn grinned sheepishly. “Carry on.”
“As I was saying, Jacoby is in the Fogworks because he tried to save me. And I want you to help me get him because your a ‘hero’. Am I correct Aislinn?”
“Oh yes! I can fight those tin cans off with my bare hands! Or even better! My hammer. Maybe....”
Ariella sighed as Aislinn started drivelling on about how to rescue Jacoby and crush automatons.

Location: No Mans Landing

“Kelli, What’s going on?” I asked as Kelli pulled me through the streets of No Mans Landing and past the Beacon. “What did you mean?” She shoved me into an ally and looked at me. I was still trying to figure out what happened to me. Why I had just woken up and just let this girl tell me what to do nilly-dilly! I didn’t usually let people push me around like that. Dash it all! I can’t remember anything. I thought. Finally Kelli said something,
“I’m taking you to Lucky.” She said. I thought about this,
She said Lucky is good...but he’s bad...isn’t he? Why do I know that...?
“Why?” I asked her, wanting her to explain. “I thought Lucky is...bad?”
She stared at me. “Lucky...Lucky is terrifying but he is the Emperor and we must listen and obey him. If he tells you to do something, you must do it.” She explained.
I’m not sure I should trust you.
“I see.” I said nodding. “I see...but why are you taking me to him?” No harm in asking questions.
“Because he thinks you’d make a loyal spy. A good scout. A nice information grabber, if you know what I mean.” Kelli explained.
And how do you know that? I was starting to doubt her.
She looked around and saw a small group approaching the ally. “Run!” Kelli screamed and dragged me behide her as she dashed out of the ally into another.
What for? They don’t look dangerous. I followed anyway.
The group leader shouted,
“There they are! Split up!” They separated, two to the left, two to the right, and other two kept following behide. There was a man and a girl still following behide us. The man was in a blue suit, hat, and mask. The girl had red hair. Kelli was still dragging me along behide her when the other four re-appeared, two on one side and two on the other, as we came out of the ally. There was a fence in front of us. I could tell Kelli was panicking internally but was trying to look cool.
“Quick! Over the fence!” She half shrieked.
I don’t want to climb a fence, Kelli. I didn’t move because I was staring at the man that was behide us.
He is so familiar! I thought. Then it came to me. A name. “Hans?” I whispered. Kelli seemed to sense what I was doing. She grabbed me and shook me hard.
“Over the fence!” She shouted trying to push me over.
No thank you. I half-fell half-climbed over anyway the fence anyway.
The other four closed in around us. I tumbled over the fence as Kelli shoved me and started over herself while screaming, “Security! Security!” Eight automatons game running and opened a gate then pursued the group. One of the two that had come from the right and had golden hair, grabbed a pistol while the other girl that was with her shrunk behind her. The red-haired girl produced a hammer and charged. The man in blue just stood there, shook his hand and disappeared into the shadows. I saw a Automaton creep after him. I wanted to cry out for him to look out but stopped myself. Just because I recognised him didn’t mean I knew him, did it?
Another lady who had come from the left stepped back, unsure of what to do then, then joined the red-head. She had been with another man who was wearing a green racing suit with the number 2 on it. He was quickly seized and carried away with the girl who had been trying to hide behide the girl with blond hair. The red-head was fighting hard and had decapitated two automatons already. With the help of the girl with golden hair they had destroyed four automatons but more were pouring in.
“Rebels!” Said an automaton officer as he stepped through the gate with ten more automatons. “Stop!” He roared. “You are outnumbered and two of your friends have already been captured.” He stated. He continued talking as automatons surround the three and there wepons were forcefully taken and the were handcuffed. I watched until Kelli pulled me away and into the shadows.

Location: Fogworks

“Stop him!” Otterquill lay on the floor that had fragments of fog-rock all over it, yelling for automatons. Jacoby ran for all he was worth. He could tell the automatons were catching up since he had to go slower to keep his balance. He rounded a corner and ducked into a shadowed doorway. The automatons ran by and into the next hall.
“At least their gone.” Jacoby said quietly, he caught his breath then looked at the doorway he had stopped by. He fumbled at the door handle then finally got it open. He didn’t close the door all the way because it had no handle on the other side. He soon realized that the door had been the door to the cells. He looked down the row of cells and in a bared window.
“Who’s there?” A voice said from inside.
“I work for S.M.” Jacoby replied.
“I know who that is: Scarlet Man. You’re a recruit?”
“Well yes. I’m Jacoby Elderfun.”
“I’m Christopher Puddlevest. I’m a recruit as well. Can you get me out of here?”
Jacoby looked around the foggy, cold room for a ring of keys. He know the ones he had put in his pocket weren’t for cell doors.
“Not that I know of,” Jacoby responded. “I think a guard somewhere has them.”
Suddenly he heard footsteps and mechanical voices. He ducked behide the door as someone pushed it fully open.
“The door was already open.” Said a voice.
“I think he’s in here.” Said another.
“Ask the prisoners.” Said the first voice.
Just then, an automaton pulled the door back and saw Jacoby.
“He’s here!” He whirred mechanically.
Being cornered, Jacoby did not struggle and let them lead him away. A minute later after walked through the fog infested halls, they came back to Jonah’s office and pushed the heavy door open. Jonah turned in his chair, looked at them and sighed.
“You again? Now what?” He asked.
“He tried escaping.” An automaton reported.
“I’ve had enough of him.” Jonah sighed. “I set him free.”

Episode 8

Location: No Mans Landing

Hanna Brassheart, Cinnar Ratchetloop, Shadowfire Fanglecraft, Grace Newgadget, and Julian struggled as the automatons led them away. The battle they had just fought to save Emily Purplebottle had failed.
Hans Oddcraft watched as automations marched his friends away. He knew he couldn’t rescue them on his own. If he could find Emily and some more Resistance recruits he would have a better chance at rescuing them. An automaton tried sneaking up behind Hans but he spun around and knocked it to the ground with his ice hammer, then knelt to pull several cogs and pipes from it. Standing, he glanced around and saw two shadows as two people disappeared around a corner. Hans climbed the fence and started following them.

I looked over my shoulder at the departing automatons and their prisoners as Kelli continued pulling me down roads and through allies. Soon we arrived at a station, entered it, and descended a flight of stairs. At the bottom was a underground subway.
We boarded the subway and it shot off into the dark tunnel. After what seemed like hours of travel, we stepped off the subway, ascended a flight of stairs and stepped out into the sunlight. I squinted and shaded my eyes against the setting sun. Kelli tapped me and the shoulder and I turned. Behind her was a huge palace.
“Where are we?” I asked, looking about.
“Don’t you recognize your own hometown?” Kelli answered.
“Evercity,” I whispered. “And is that-?”
“Lucky’s palace.” Kelli finished, gesturing to the huge building before us.
She walked toward an automaton patrol and I followed slowly behind, looking at the city around me. Kelli was muttering something to the automatons as I came up next to her.
“What’s the password?” The automaton whirred.
Kelli rolled her eyes, and flashed a piece of paper that she had pulled from her pocket in its metal face.
“Permission granted,” The automaton rasped. “You shall be escorted to his majesty Emperor Lucky momentarily.”
It shuffled away and returned shortly with a man.
“Hello,” He said. “I will get you an audience with Emperor Lucky.”

Location: No Mans Landing

“Ah ha!” Detective Gloria Oldenpinner said triumphantly. “Sliver. I’ve finally tracked you down.”
Sliverclaw Bonnetfolly sighed and turned to face the detective.
“What.” She muttered.
“What did you do with the book?” Gloria questioned.
“What book?” Sliverclaw asked.
“The one that was stolen over three weeks ago.” Gloria raised an eyebrow.
“Got any proof?” Sliverclaw said, trying to defend herself.
“I have fingerprints,” Gloria waved a small tube in front of Sliverclaw’s face. “And a footage from a security camera.” Gloria pulled out a camera. “Care to take a look?”

Location: The Fogworks

Jacoby Elderfun gasped as an automaton threw him unto the ground outside of the Fogworks.
I can’t believe I was released! I thought nobody came out of the Fogworks. Jacoby thought as he stood and brushed the dirt off his knees.

Three hours later, Jacoby was huffing and puffing was he made his way up a hill.
Suddenly he heard the clank of metal footsteps behind him.
He spun around and avoided a bullet as it wizzes past his head as he looked down at three automatons following him.
Jacoby started sprinting and so did the automatons.
“I just got realised from the Fogworks and now you want to put me back in!” He yelled as he ran down the other side of the hill.
Suddenly he tripped and went flying. He landed with a splash in a pool of purple liquid.

Location: Evercity

As we walked along, I kept looking around and wondering. I followed Kelli and the man, who had said his name was Benjamin Larkcape, into the palace and when we entered a room Kelli sat me down on a bed and walked out, closing the door beside her.

Location: Unknown

Jacoby spluttered as he sat up. The automatons came to a holt at the edge of the pool.
Jacoby examined the liquid. When he touched it, it went curling into the air and would then settle again.
Its Aether! Jacoby thought and grabbed his empty Aethermeter.
When it was filled, he sent some spiralling toward the automatons.
At its touch, they relcoiled and then fell to the ground.
Jacoby waded through the pool towards them and flipped one over. Aether had gotten into its fog tank and had effected all the fog.
It rose and it eyes glowed purple instead of green.
“Go to the Resistance and do good.” Jacoby said to it.
“Roger roger.” It said and walked away.
Jacoby gazed up at the setting sun and turned to find a place to sleep.

Location: Evercity

The sun had set and Kelli had not yet returned so I simply slipped into bed and fell asleep.

“Emily.”
The voice was so faint, but it woke me. It was pitch black in the room as I tried looking around.
Suddenly my widows flew open and moonlight streamed in, framing a figure that stood in the middle of the room.
I gasped and opened my mouth to scream when a purple glow illuminated from the middle of the room.
A gloved had held it, the glow seemed to escape the the gold sphere it was in and filled the room.
It lit the figure. It was clothed in a scarlet cloak. A belt held to pistols. It’s face was covered in a back mask, framed by a scarlet hood.
“Emily.” It’s said again.
“Yes.” I whispered, barely breathing.
“Remember.”
“Remember what?”
“Remember the Resistance. Remember Hans. Remember you.”
I crunched my face up in confusion. “Who are you?”
“It is I.” It said and pulled off his mask, causing his hood to flip back.
I could not describe his face. The Scarlet Man’s face.
“Remember.” The words left his lips as all the purple shot towards me, and I remembered no more.

Episode 9

Location: Evercity

Gasping for air, I bolted upright. The words ran around my head, Remember. Remember the ___, Remember ___, Remember Hans.
“Who’s is this Hans?” I asked out loud to no one. “Why is that the only thing I can remember?”
I gazed around the room. It was dark. There were particles of glowing purple scattered across my room and lit it with an eerie but calming glow. My mind seemed clearer than it had been since...as far back as I could think. I was still piecing everything together.
Lets see, I thought. I remember waking in a hospital. Following a woman around. Coming here and falling asleep...then he came in. Who was he?
Suddenly I shuddered and countless memories flooded through my mind in a split second. But all to fast to think about.
I closed my eyes and sighed, then opened them and looked down. There was a mask on the floor at my feet. A black mask with a pair of goggles made out of gold fixed on them. He said he was the Scarlet Man. I picked it up and fingered it when something cought my eye.
It was a bottle, the neck of it thin and strait, the base an oval. In side swirled a purple liquid. I stumbled across the floor in my hurry to reach it. Careful lifting it, several words seemed to glow out.
One time this can be used. Use wisely.

“Where did they go?” Hans muttered as he staggered through the uncountable streets Evercity. “It’s dark, I’m tired, and want to find Emily.”
He slumped on a nearby bench and sighed. “I know I’m with the Empire and Lucky is who I’m loyal to, but, Great Engineer help me.” He lifted his head and his eyes widened. Before him was Lucky’s palace and in a high window, a purple glow steamed through and a cloaked figure was outlined in it’s light.
“Oh there’s the Scarlet Man right now,” He closed his eyes. “Wait what?!” He leaped to his feet. “Em!”

Location: No Man’s Landing

Sliverclaw nervously fingered her collar as Gloria clicked the camera off.
“Sliverclaw Bonnetfolly, you are under arrest.” Gloria smirked.
Sliverclaw dipped her head and aloud the detective to lead her away.

“And that’s another criminal under control,” Gloria clapped her hands together. “No need to thank me.” She tipped her hat to the prison keeper and headed for the door.
“Wait,” He said. Gloria slowly turned. “Have you recovered the artefact?”
“The what?” Gloria titled her head.
“The book that was stolen. Do you even know how much that thing was worth?”
Gloria gulped. “I’ve have it back be sunset tomorrow.” She plastered a smile on her face. How am I going to do that?

Location: Evercity

“Emperor Lucky, I know its late,”
“It’s 11:00 p.m. Quite late.”
“Yes. Apologises, but I knew would be excited over this news, we got her!”
“Emily Purplebottle? Isn’t she a general in the Resistance?”
“Something like that, but the point is, we got her, injected fog into her blood, and now she’s going with everything I say! She’s one of us!”
“Kelli! I told you I wanted her completely unharmed. Even without fog.”
“Well, Yes, but you see, she fell off cliff or something and she had a robotic leg from the knee down that got destroyed, sooo....when do you want to see her?”
“When she back to normal! I do not want to lay eyes on her until she’s in her right mind, trying to get back to the Resistance. It’s all part of the plan...now go!”
“Yes, lord Lucky.”

Location: Unknown

“Where in the world am I?” Jacoby sighed and put down the rocks he was using to try and create a spark for a fire. “This is no good. I need to get back to the Resistance. I wonder what came of Ariella and that other girl?” He shrugged and looking up at the stars, headed back to Evercity.

Location: Evercity

Hans stood on his toes and looked up at the window, a grappling hook in his hand.
A cat skittering by stopped, looked at him, and meowed inquisitively.
“Heros always have grappling hooks,” Hans explained. “Now be quiet, I need to rescue Emily,” He turned back to the wall before him. “Why am I talking to a cat? Get out of here!” Hans swished around, shooed the feline away, looked this way and that for guards and aimed for the window.
