I crouch on the rafters in the ceiling above my friends. Sound weird? Probably because it is. There hasn't been much to do in the Resistance, so I decided to follow Ilayne and Emily to the Grease Pits, even though I wasn't needed on this mission.
Watching them bicker is not the best thing, and I wonder about this Draven guy. There seem to be an awful lot of people against the Empire yet not with the Resistance.
I grimace as they continue their argument, this time about what plans Draven was a part of.
Should I let them know I'm here? Neh . . . I'll preserve the element of surprise.
At that moment, something else quite surprising walks in! A man and an automayeti block the exit, the man with a satisfied expression on face.
"You mean you were going to leave without saying good-bye?'' The man says.
I can't think of a single person who does say good-bye to the Grease Pits, I think to myself. The Grease Pits sure doesn't say hello in the first place . . .
"Aaron Kallous!?" Draven exclaims. Ooh, is he Draven's arch-nemesis? I start edging closer along the rafters.
"Hello, Eldercraft,'' the man, or Aaron, smiles evilly and starts to continue his dramatic sentence. Before he can, Ilayne shoots her pistols! Go get 'em, Layne! but the excitement on my face fades as the automayeti jumps in front of Aaron and blocks the shots with it's arm. Not good . . . I edge closer until I'm directly above them.
"I'm afraid you're going to have to do better than that to get out of here,'' Aaron says. "Automatyeti, attack!''
In one smooth movement I take my Tesla hammer from it's sling and leap from the rafters! The automayeti charges at the group below, and is met with the full force of a fully charged weapon and leather coat epic-ness!
Aaron looks confused for a second, then angry. "Automayeti, attack again!"
By then Ilayne, Draven, Charles, and Emily have their weapons out. It's a full on fight! The auto charges at us again, but is met with all our weapons at once. There it lays, a pile of metal on the floor.
We look around, but Aaron What'shisname is gone.
"Who are you?'' Draven asks me suspiciously.
I put my hammer back in it's sling and smile. "Gloria Oldenpinner, Detective, Paramedic, R.S.I. Agent and Weirdo, at ya servahce, Sah!'' I salute for added effect. Draven raises his eyebrows.
"Thanks for the help, but what are you doing here??'' Emily inquires.
I shrug. "I got bored, so I followed you. So Draven, is Aaron Kallous your arch-nemesis?"
"You could say that,'' Draven muttered.
I snap my fingers. "I knew it!"
"This is nice and all, but we need to go,'' Ilayne cuts in. "Waiting around was our last mistake. Draven, are you coming?''
I reach my hand out. "Come with us, Draven of the Awesome Gauntlet Skills!" I say in a dramatic British accent.
Charles steps over to his friend. "Gloria may be a little weird, but at least give us a chance to tell you why we need your help." Ilayne and Emily nod at this.
"Alright, fine. I'll come with you but don't expect me to join.'' Draven follows us out the exit and I leap into the air happily.
