"Are you sure it's wise to split up?" I ask, worrying about Erik.
"We'd be more easily caught if we stayed together." says Emman.
I glance at Daroga and Eerie. Eerie nods hand holds out her hand for a radio. Daroga stares at Emman warily.
"So, why should we trust you with this?" she asks.
Emman throws his hands up in irritation. "Why not?" he practically yells. Eerie shushes him with a stern expression.
"I don't know, maybe because you tried to assassinate my friend and broke my Persian vase!" she replies irritably, "R.I.P vase . . ." she adds sadly.
Emman sighs, "Well I'm with you guys now," he says earnestly.
"How do we know?" @Gloria_Oldenpinner asks, raising an eyebrow, "People don't change overnight."
"What could he do?" I ask in his defense, "If these radios truly work, we'd stay in contact."
Eerie and Daroga do a quick test with the radios. Sure enough, they worked.
"Alright," sighs Daroga, "but if you end up sneaking off and trying to kill Erik again-"
"I won't!" Emman replies sternly.
"First things first," says Eerie, "Where do we go?"
I glance around the cave again, trying to find other natural exits. Nothing.
There must be another way out!
I recall the time Eerie and I went exploring in a cave in Evergreen Meadows. There were all sorts of climbs and falls in the rock formation. There didn't seem to be any set floor there. It was like climbing through an ants nest Eerie had said, no floors no ceilings, all natural tunnels.
I jump a bit as inspiration strikes me. I throw my head back and gaze at a large hole in the ceiling.
"Eerie!" I call, my voice echoing through the tunnel, "I found another way!"
Eerie, Daroga, and Emman run up to me and stare into the ceiling.
"How are we getting up there?" asks Daroga.
"Stand back, I have this covered." says Emman, pulling a grapple gun out of his coat. He takes aim a fires into the black of the hole. Thankfully, Erik let us take the lantern.
Erik . . .
My mind wanders back to the Phantom and the turmoil in his eyes when he asked us to continue on without him. I think back to his eyes, there was something more then turmoil in them.
He has unfinished business, I think. Something he needs to accomplish alone. Something related to his past here.
"Hey, you!" Emman calls, snapping me out of my thoughts, "Didn't you hear me? Hold on to me while I pull us up!"
"Are you certain this device is strong enough for the four of us?" asks Eerie.
"I've done tests, my grapple gun can lift up to two tons!" replies Emman proudly.
Eerie grimaces and reluctantly holds onto Emman with Daroga and I. Emman holds down the trigger on this grapple gun and pulls the four of us up into the cave. I tightly clutch the lantern while watching the cave pass by us. Suddenly . . .
"Stop!" I shout, causing Emman to release the trigger.
"What?" he asks, annoyed.
"Look," I say, pointing.
Through a hole in the cave wall, we can clearly overlook the factory workers slaving away at their work. Eerie, Daroga, and I let go of Emman and step out onto a nearby ledge.
We've found our entrance, Phantom, I simply hope you've found the answer to your quest.
