About a month after our visitors left, M came into the library.
"Taka, those Christians you met in Silverslade are here."
Hanna Brassheart walked into the room, followed by Ariella Newheart.
"What are you guys doing here? Not that I don't want to see you." I asked
Hanna smiled grimly. "I imagine it must be very strange."
"Definetly. So, why are you here?"
Ariella silently handed me a paper that read:
All books, and any mention of God is now illegal in Silverslade
My mouth dropped open. M seemed surprisingly undisturbed by it.
"Did this Jacoby Elderfun do this?" I asked.
"How did you know we got a new ruler? You never leave Jaga." Hanna asked
"We had some visitors last month. Captain Gloria Oldenpinner and Arre Sprocketline." M said.
"Uh.... you do realize that the are pirates, right?" Ariella asked.
"We let pirates into Jaga?!" I said.
M snapped her fingers. "That would explain the missing silverware!"
"What missing silverware?" I asked.
"I'm sorry to interrupt this interesting conversation, but can we get back on topic?" Hanna asked.
"Sorry. So, what are they doing with the books?"
Ariella shrugged. "We don't know. The army has been collecting any form of books, Bibles, and hymnals for the past few days."
"They're taking hymnals too?"
"Yep. And no one is allowed to sing any songs mentioning heaven or God."
"Of course this means no more country songs from Reality. That's probably the best thing that's come out of this." Hanna said.
"Any one that won't give up their books are being taken to Dastra." Ariella said.
"That's the prison, right?" I asked. Both girls nodded. "Is there anyway we can help?"
"We, Taka?" M asked slowly.
"Yes, we. By that I mean Semptara." I replied.
"Are you sure? Maybe you don't even have an army any more."
"What in the name of tyranny are you talking about?"
M rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, Taka! Haven't you noticed? No one here agrees with your beliefs! We're all annoyed with your righteousness! All of the soldiers have left Semptara. As we speak, there is only the four of us left in Jaga. And now it will be only three." She turned to leave.
"You're leaving Jaga? M, you've lived here your whole life!"
She turned around. "I'm willing to leave it. I am also planning to join Silverslade's army."
"You would be willing to steal books?! You love to read!"
"It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make." she snarled. She turned and walked away.
After watching the door slam shut, I looked at Ariella and Hanna.
"Are you two willing to have a third person go with you to Silverslade?" I asked them.
Hanna grinned. "Of course not! Ariella packed plenty of food."
"Yep! Have a cookie." she said.
I rolled my eyes as Hanna said, "Is that all you brought for food?!"
"I brought some Pringles too."
Hanna sighed. "I hope you like Pringles and cookies, Taka."
And I would write more, but I am very, very hungry for some cookies now. (Thanks alot, Ariella) So, I will write more later!
