From photo editing to drawing to learning a new language, there are many apps with many uses, and it is well-nigh impossible to sort through them all! Post recommendations on your favorite apps, or ask for help in finding a good app for a specific use.

This topic is inclusive of all app stores and desktop computer applications.

Do not recommend an app you haven't made 100% sure is safe and appropriate.

Prisma

This is a really cool free photo editor that turns regular photos into pretty art! It offers many different free styles (most based on the styles of famous artists) to style your photos in, as well as a daily new style from the payed subscription.
Prisma also has a "feed," where you can post your Prisma pics to a global network thing. I don't recommend it, because it also posts your geotag (where you are at the time of posting) along with your picture. There may be immodest pictures. Luckily, you are not required to set up this feature. Instead, to save your photos, click the download button, then click SAVE at the bottom of the pop-up window. This will save the photo to your device and not post it to the global feed.

Prisma is also ad-free by default! Bonus!

In this game you (a space gnome) travel through space in search of the origins of a magical flute. Since it is a role playing game you encounter lots of strange creatures and have to figure out different types of puzzles and best of all: it is totally wordless. This game has great organic landscapes and really reduces stress. It has probably one of the best soundtracks in any game which you can download online if you want to listen to it when you aren’t playing! My suggestion for this playing this game is to sit back, plug in the headphones, and turn it up!

The Aetherlight

This great role playing game has wonderful puzzles, great in-game characters, and since it is an online social game you can chat with other players, help each other out, and complete missions with friends. The Christian values are also brilliantly thought out with a fun steampunk setting (and a touch of Star Wars[don’t tell anyone I said that])! The soundtrack is also great and is very motivating when completing tasks. Also, if you get the game be sure to check out the great forums here. The game also has its own topic around here somewhere though I can’t pinpoint it.

(This is a little weird, since I'm new, but here I go!)

I just got a drawing app called 'Autodesk Sketchbook', and I really like it! I'ts great for professionals, and non-professionals like me!
There are tons of different tools, colors, settings, and other goodies.
You can pay for the full thing, but I just use the free stuff.
(Also, there aren't any ads!)

I would rate it 4 1/2 stars.

Eclipse
Eclipse is an app you can run java on I have found it very nice to learn on, because it gives code and import suggestions, you can also run classes and thing you made in it from a different class easily.

If you are a horse lover, I recommend this game. You start at level 1 and work up to the top. Amy will help you as you buy, breed, feed, groom, and sell horses on your very own ranch! As you level up you will get more ranches in other countries and will be able to upgrade stables and buildings to earn more money.. Run steeplechase with your horses in Mexico, Russia, etc. to earn money as well. Breed horse and get better and more exotic breeds! Feed foals so they will grow and turn into beautiful horses! Also the Kentucky Derby is in Horse Haven! This event lasts 3 more weeks. How many horse can you get?

Habitica is a video game/fantasy-themed app that you could also access from your computer. It helps you finish your everyday tasks, build good habits, and break bad ones! You get points and awesome prizes for checking off to-do list and routine items, as well as good habits, and you get health damage from not finishing your work that day, or for checking off a bad habit. The prizes are awesome, the layout is straightforward and easy to understand, and if you need help with anything, the community is AWESOME, well-moderated for family-friendliness, and super ready to help!

Habitica has helped me immensely with my work! This past semester for me has been more productive than most because of it! (We started using it during Christmas break.) I would HIGHY recommend it for EVERYONE

One downside: The app tends to get a lot of bugs and glitches, so sometimes that might impede your experience. But it doesn't happen everyday, and they have a little chat place where you can report bugs!

Here is a tiny little sneak peek of what the layout looks like. It's where you can create new habits/to-do stuff/routine items.

The Nancy Drew computer games by Her Interactive!
Play as Nancy as she travels around the World solving mysteries. These games are not only fun but also educational as each game focuses on the history, culture, nature, and other subjects of each country the games focus on. These games are especially pleasing to people who like to challenge there brains, for there are lots of tricky puzzles to solve. These games are specifically made for girls, so I don't recommend them for boys.
Positive Elements: Educational, no cussing.

Negative Elements: The games have a good deal of jump scares that can leave you shaking. A few of them eg. Shadow at the Waters Edge have very realistic and scary phantoms that try to harm you throughout the game, but they all turn out to be a hoax in the end. There is also mild violence, a few alcohol references, and sorcery references.

The games are not modeled after the books.

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector is a time-based game where you set out toys and cat food, then wait. Pretty soon, you will have attracted your first cat! The cats leave fish behind as gifts, which you can use to buy more toys and food from the Shop. Once a kitty has visited your house several times and become acquainted with you, it will leave a precious kitty memento, like a little pin or an acorn. The aim of the game is to collect all the kitties and their mementos!
Certain kitties like certain food or toys, so it becomes a challenge finding out what will attract more cats. Each cat that visits your house is documented—along with its favorite toys and personality—in the Catbook. You can also take pictures of the kitties when they come and assign your favorite to their Catbook entry.
Another cool feature is that you DON'T have to make in-app purchases, and the game is virtually ad-free with no banner ads or popups! Just be patient and you can unlock all the cool stuff without spending any money.
