I listen intently to the conversation between Everest and the human.
She seemed pretty terrified (although that could be faked).
"I've seen hunters hide their weapons before. You just said that you had just found that dragon, which leaves you no time to hurt it," Everest was telling the girl.
I smile inwardly, Who's being untrusting now?
For the first time, I noticed the baby dragon at the girl's feet. How many dragons live on this mountain? I thought I was the only one!
"I think I could give you the benefit of the doubt, for now," Everest finished. He turned and began looking out over the ocean.
I kept watching the girl with the baby dragon. I had questions bouncing around in my head. Is she really innocent, or is she a dragon hunter? Where did she find that baby dragon?
There were too many questions; I was going to keep a watch on this human.
She saw me staring straight at her, and she looked a little unnerved.
"Is that another dragon?" Everest asked, "In the water?"
Aerann and the human turned to look at the ocean. I kept my eyes on the human for a few moments before turning my head to the sea.
