Eps. 4 ~ EDITED
EXT. WOODS IN BOOTLEG PASS - EARLY AFTERNOON
West, Katherine and Gail are walking in the woods towards town. West is in front while the two girls are carrying the crate. They look like they're struggling with it.
WEST (turning back at them and almost laughing) : Are you sure you girls can carry that weight?
GAIL (fake-smiling) : Oh yes, we've got it!
KATHERINE: Of course, this is easy!
WEST: Alright then. If you're sure you've got it, I'll be up ahead.
West WALKS more ahead of the girls, who glance at each other and laugh. When West reaches the top of a little hill, he stops in his tracks and backs up. The girls don't see him and bump into him, dropping the crate.
GAIL (embarrassed) : Sorry---
WEST (in a hushed tone) : Shh, there's something out there. Get down.
The three duck down by the crate.
KATHERINE: What do you see, sir?
WEST: Automatons. They've got a group of teenagers surrounded. We should go give them a hand.
GAIL: I thought you said you hoped we wouldn't have to use our pistols.
WEST: Well it looks like we might have to go against that. C'mon.
EXT. SCARLETT HILL BOOTLEG PASS - CONT.
Raven, Gregory, Renna and Heather are still breathing hard, but they finally arrive at the top of Scarlett Hill.
RENNA: Well, we're up here. What's the plan?
RAVEN: Um, still working on the rest.
HEATHER (was LOOKING at a large rock, but then LOOKS back up with a determined expression) : I might have an idea, Raven.
GREGORY (angry) : Oh no, not again! Remember last time you 'had a plan'? Ace almost caught us!
HEATHER (looking desperately at Raven) : Raven I know I can pull this one through. Please, just give me one more chance!
RAVEN (holding up a hand at Gregory) : That's enough, Gregory. We need everyone to contribute. We can't tear down one another. We have to work together.
Gregory grunts and rolls his eyes.
RAVE (cont.) : What's your plan, Heather?
Heather smiles and gives her a thankful look.
HEATHER: Well, I've been looking at this boulder. We can tilt it so it can roll down the hill and smash some automatons and give us time to get away. All we have to do is run behind. Plus, we can use some of those flat rocks as shields.
GREGORY: There's no way that'd work.
RENNA: I have to agree. Those rocks are way too small to use as shields.
RAVEN: Look you two, this is a chance and we are going to have to take it. Do we want to stay here and die or do we want to escape?
RENNA and GREGORY (quietly) : Escape.
RAVEN: Alright then. Heather, what do you want us to do?
HEATHER: Well, the only way this is going to happen is if we can get the boulder off this ledge and rolling down the hill.
GREGORY (not convinced) : Is that even possible? That thing is way too big.
Heather glances at Gregory, then at Raven and Renna.
HEATHER: Listen, for no reason I just started walking towards this boulder. It's . . . like something was directing me to it. This is how we are going to get out of here.
Gregory looks at Heather, a little shocked. Raven and Renna look at each other.
HEATHER (looking down the hill) : We'd better hurry. Those automatons are climbing up.
EXT. THE PURPLE RAVEN, NEAR ENGINE BAY - SAME TIME
DRAKE: Prepare the mainsail! Hoist up the anchor!
Captain Drake is standing confidently near the wheel, and watches as his crew scurries around. He smiles, pleased at all of them for being dependable. A man, the BOATSWAIN, approaches him.
BOATSWAIN: Excuse me, Captain.
DRAKE: What's the matter?
BOATSWAIN: Nothing at the moment, Captain.
DRAKE (rolling his eyes) : Then what is it?
BOATSWAIN: There appears to be a little something going on in Bootleg Pass. I see automatons there, and if they capture the people that we sold the weapons to, they might force them to talk and direct the Emperor towards us. That wouldn't be good for business, Captain.
DRAKE (stroking his chin) : Aye, good thinking. I wouldn't mind having a squabble right now anyways. Order the crew to stop what they're doing and prepare the dinghy.
BOATSWAIN (saluting) : Aye, Captain.
EXT. BOOTLEG PASS, SCARLETT HILL - SAME TIME
HEATHER: We can do this! Push!
Raven, Gregory, Heather, and Renna push with all their strength, struggling to move the huge rock. It won't budge.
HEATHER (wiping sweat from her forehead) : Push harder! I can see the troubleshooters coming first!
RENNA (slightly smiling underneath the weight) : The boulder! It's lifting from the ground!
HEATHER: Come on everyone! We can do this!
All four of them push harder, and boulder begins to tilt. Renna grabs a near-by stick and shoves it under it, pulling upwards for leverage. Finally, the boulder breaks loose from the dirt, and starts rolling downhill.
GREGORY (eyes wide) : Hey! It worked, it's rolling!
HEATHER: Hurry, let's follow it!
The four kids grab sticks and rocks that are lying near-by.
They all run to keep up with the boulder, which is gaining speed. Crunches are heard, and they all avoid crushed troubleshooters.
HEATHER: That's our way through!
WOODS IN BOOTLEG PASS, SCARLETT HILL
CHRIS (jaw dropped) : What are they doing?!
Chris, Trinian, and Celosia watch in horror and amazement as Raven's group charge down the hill behind the boulder. The crate lies before them.
TRINIAN: I don't know, but it seems to be working!
CELOSIA: Wow!! That boulder took down four troubleshooters and a Pacifier Officer!!
CHRIS (still astounded) : They're going to get themselves killed!
They watch as the boulder continues going down, but at the last second, it swerves.
CHRIS (gasping) : It's headed right toward us!
All three of them freeze as it rambles on. Finally Chris look down at the crate.
CHRIS: Move the crate!!
Raven, stick in hand, smashes a troubleshooter that was right on her heels. She smirks.
RENNA: I think we have a chance of getting through!
GREGORY: Uh . . . I wouldn't be too sure about that . . .
*They all turn in the direction Gregory is facing, and Raven's eyes widen.
RAVEN: Uh oh . . .
The boulder smashes into a tree and rock chips scatter everywhere. Raven's group cover their faces.
CHRIS (from a few feet away) : Raven! A little bit more and you would have smashed the crate!!
Chris and his group are standing next to another tree. Raven isn't looking at them though.
RAVEN: Chris, I think we have other problems to worry about right now.
Chris looks around to see that once again they are surrounded by the automatons, and they are closing in fast.
RENNA: Can't we fight them off with the weapons in the crate?
CHRIS: No chance, we weren't able to open it before with the things we brought with us. I think our only option left is to surrender.
FIFTEEN FEET AWAY
Ace watches from a distance as his regiment closes in on the rebel group. A PACIFIER OFFICER walks over to him.
PACIFIER OFFICER: Sir, they have surrendered. Shall we finish them off?
ACE: I should think not.
PACIFIER OFFICER: But sir, the Emperor said to kill them.
ACE (sternly) : Well, the Emperor isn't here right now, is he? I'm the one that makes decisions. I say we bring them to our torture chambers for interrogation. Do you understand?
PACIFIER OFFICER: --Yes sir.
