Meanwhile, back at Eerie's house, my little friends had gone to sleep. I laid Kit in a small bed of cushions in a chair and laid down of the floor beside the bed to sleep.
I had just closed my eyes when suddenly, I heard a glass break on the kitchen floor.
"Wowzers! Dat thing bursted loud!" exclaimed Pat from the kitchen.
"Let's do it again'!" cheered Billy, removing another glass from the cabinet.
My blood went cold. I rolled over and sprang to my feet to end the madness. As I entered the kitchen, however, I discovered even more madness; Spring and Georgia had found Eerie's icebox and had emptied it completely into their mouths and pockets. Annie had managed to turn on the Aetherstove, which now glowed red hot with heat.
Only two factors redeemed this situation. One, the baby was still asleep. And two, Eerie was not here to witness this catastrophe.
"Kids, what are you doing?!" I hissed, still trying not to wake Kit.
"Oh, dere you are, Missy!" cried Spring, turning to me, "Georgia en I found dis food ere, a ton o it! Ain't dat great?"
"All that is Eerie's food." I said evenly, trying not to let Spring see how irritated I really am.
"Oui, relly?" asks Georgia through a mouth full of apple.
"Really, so we can't take her food. She needs it to live, just like we do."
"Fine," the two girls grumbled, emptying their pockets reluctantly.
"Mithy, dath's ot!" cried Annie, pointing at the Aetherstove.
I sighed and switched off the stove just as Billy let another glass crash on the floor. Annie screamed, Pat cheered, and Kit began crying from the next room.
My eye began twitching irritably, I don't think I've ever been more angry at the urchins in my life. On top of that, I knew I was dead meat when Eerie came home.
"Alright," I said, breathing heavily to contain my irritation, "Billy, Pat, please don't break anymore glasses. Because Hat lady likes them very much and would not like to know that you two think it's fun to break them."
"Missy, Kit's a wailin up a starm! Please go clam er down!" pleaded Spring.
"Alright, alright, just don't touch the glass, it'll hurt you!" I called as I hurried back to Kit.
"It's alright, Kitty," I whisper, taking her in my arms, "I'm here, everything's going to be all-"
Suddenly, the locks click open and @Eerie_Coppernight walks through the door.
