Hey guys, it's me again bringing you wonderful guides to help you around the forums. So far, I've made three, but I'm still working on many more so expect another few after this one. If you've read this topic's title then you ALSO know what this topic is about. This topic is to teach you how to SPAM. Oh wait, you guys do that SO WELL without instructions, that's why this topic is ACTUALLY supposed to teach you how NOT to spam. Make sense? No? Yes? Good.
This guide will be in steps, follow these steps closely and you'll be a more or less spam free person here on the Aetherlight forums. Trust me, people will appreciate you for that. Especially moderators, heh, heh...
Step UNO! (that's Spanish for one I think...)
Think out what you want to say. If you see a person's post and you think it's funny, don't go "HAHAHAHAAHA!". Yeah... people don't really need to see your insanity. Posts like that only take up space and really don't contribute anything useful or new to that person's post or topic. Something like, "Ha! Nice joke, (person)! I didn't get it the first time, but I went crazy the second time I read it!" You see? That tells people that you loved the joke AND it actually shows a bit of personality and not a maniac.
Step Dos! (that's Spanish for two I think...)
Don't say super obvious stuff. Unless you're a cynical introvert like me, obvious posts of yours could get annoying to topic creators, moderators, and everyone else in general. If you see someone saying, "Oh my... I wonder what 1 + 1 equals?" Don't go yelling out 2. The guy probably meant it as a joke, so you should reply likewise. A post like "Oh yeah, I wonder...
" might be better. If the guy DIDN'T mean it as a joke then I suggest you pray for them... O_O
Step Tres! (I'm pretty sure I got that wrong... not so great at Spanish after all heh, heh...)
Don't go on a spamming spree. I understand that the forums can get overwhelming, but if you make a string of five to ten posts all saying pretty much the same thing (regardless of which topic they're in), it gets annoying and even MORE overwhelming for the next person to come along. Try putting things into as few posts as possible. Make your posts meaningful and detail-filled. Not short and USELESS. There's another word for that. Yup, you guessed it. SPAM.
Step four. ( looks down in shame... no more Spanish for me...)
It's great when complimenting others. It really is. Whether it's an awesome drawing, picture, feat, post, whatever! You want to go and gave the guy a virtual pat-on-the-back right? Yeah well, others do too. Be careful when posting that you don't just post a simple, "...NICE!..." That's just spam and not really nice at all on your part. Tell the person WHAT you liked about it, WHY you liked it, and DON'T copy what other people say. Because then somebody will copy you then... you get the point.
Step FIVE! (oh yes, I'm Asian-American. Get OVER it... I'll take up Spanish in Heaven...)
This is the BIGGEST rule. NEVER, under ANY circumstances, post something... OFF-TOPIC. These, no matter HOW funny, cool, detail-filled, or meaningful they are; if you put something off-topic in the WRONG topic, it's given a straight SPAM ticket and will be moved or deleted. Don't be happy if you get away with it either, soon, others will follow that example and you'll be trashing your own topic. Or worse, someone ELSE'S. Keep things relevant. If you've got something great to say, say it in a topic where it will fit in. This is the one area where you DON'T want to stand out in... If you find yourself without a good topic to post things in, go ahead and MAKE one. I made guide for that too!
Anyways, there's about a hundred OTHER ways people spam, but I don't really have the time to cover it all. These are the basics, so make sure to read and understand them. These are all here so that you'll never have to get reported or SHAMED. I hope this helps!
