(Italics are me thought)
Finally docked at the Flying L, I head back below decks for a little exploring of the Scarlet Shepherd's interior. I pass by the boy's cabins-stopping for a moment to examine the name"Titan" burned on one of the locked doors, and proceed down the hallway, wondering where the ward would be.
Next I walk into the kitchen (REALLY need a cook!) And found a pirate hat lying on the counter with the two crates of oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits in the corner.
Wait-did I mention limes to Caleb? Ugh, I can't remember!
I picked it up and examined the name on the inside: low and behold, it was Caleb Larkmagnet's.
I'll return it the next time I see him.
I think as I stuff it inside my satchel.
I continue on, and pass by the dining area, walk down a flight of stairs, and up the end of the corridor-marked by an opposing door labeled "Aether Boiler Engine Room".
I wonder what the Aether engine looks like.
I think to myself, and turn the doorknob, half-surprised to find it unlocked. I push open the metal door, and, low and behold, walk into a large metal room illuminated only by the gigantic Aether Boiler in the middle of the room.
My Aethermeter starts glowing a brilliant purple hue from the side of my head as I drew nearer in mesmerized awe of the swarming, churning, beautiful Aether. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught something taller than me moving near my left. Ha! I say, and let a spring loaded kick full of adrenaline at the tibia of my foe.
"Yeow! What was that for!" My foe yelled at me as my foot hit it's target, and bends over to massage the area that probably will have a nice bruise come tomorrow.
Oh, that's-wait, what's his name?
"Oh, sorry-you startled me!' I say, examining him head to foot.
Could we be no less different from one another? I'm from a more upclass side of No Man's as a doctor...that is before selling my house for quite a nice sum of sovereigns to join the crew..still trying to find the ward around here.
On the other hand, he looks like he's been playing in the sewers-smells like it, which is a rather wild guess anyway. Oh-what's the name Eerie said on deck! Hmm, speaking of the captain, maybe I can ask her when she gets back onboard where the ward is...I STILL have quite a bit of this ship to explore!
My nameless victim of my power kick looks up at me and responds, "You surprised me?!! This is my place instead of a cabin and I'm in charge of the Aether Boiler's maintenance-what are you doing here, anyway?" He asks me.
Wait-what? Nevermind. Well, he got me on that-and I don't even recall his name! Silhouette? It's on the tip of my tongue!!! Grrr! I just heard it!
Oh, I see: really sorry for interrupting and kicking you so hard. I was out exploring the ship when I found the Aether Boiler engine room's door, curious, I wanted to see what keeps this ship in the air."
I say, and watch a small purple glow of Aether highly concentrated together on his chest.
"You have an Aethermeter necklace? I have my Aethermeter as a hairpiece!" I say with a smile; reaching up patting my Aethermeter where it was secured to my head with a small, clear, hidden headband it clipped to.
"Do you happen to know where the ward would be? I ask as he looks at me quizzingly, and shakes his head no in response.
Shade??? No-I give up. I'll just ask him.
What's your name? I ask patiently.
"Shadow-Shadow Darksong." He replies.
"Nice name! Mine is Abira Eggsong!" I say, extending my hand in a friendly, belated greeting.
